It's not so much the security factor as it is having everything attached and not bouncing around. The interior is really too nice to have it open to the elements, although I have been thinking about running a soft top in the summer that I can roll the sides and back up when it's nice and seal it back up when it rains.

I like your U-bolt idea and I figured out a way to make it work where my speakers are located, but then I can't access the storage areas at the back of the truck. It's always the details that are a PITA.

I didn't get as much work done on the Turbo 4Runner as I wanted but I still made some progess. I spent most of the weekend finnishing up the details of getting rid of the 85' and selling off some parts to fund this project.

I started by sorting though all of my recovery, spare parts / fluids and survival items. I used to carry all of this stuff in ammo cans in the 85' but they are heavy and bulky. I also figured that I could consolidate some space at the same time.

Here's what I had in the 85', heavy and took up a lot of room

I started with the survival gear. I decided that I wanted to have everthing in a backpack, that way if I had to hike out of a situation I could carry it with me.

Next I moved on to the spare parts, fluids, etc. Since this truck will not be running the super nasty trails the last one was, I was able to save some space and weight. Instaed of ammo cans I went with Action packers, I picked up two but was able to fit everthing in one.

Three heavy ammo cans to this

The faded red (pink) top was driving me crazy, so I painted it with some Dupli-color black bedliner. I used it on 85' and was happy with the results, so I gave it another shot. As before I'm happy how it turned out, it goes on nice and even. The only down side is how much it stinks, make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

Before

And after

Glad that I could give you some ideas. I hate carrying all this stuff around but I know as soon as I take out of the truck I'm going to need it.

You don't need a trailer, you could pick up what's left with a Honda.

Thanks!

Your truck's Identical twin

I know this is totally irrelevant, but just thought you might like to see your truck's twin. No relation to the seller. Just in case you might like to have two; one for fun, and your nicer one for a DD. (I know that's not the direction you're headed, but figured what the hey

it is something I need to pick up too...a beverage tank is a lot cheaper to find than a power tank...and a lot faster than 99% of the plug in compressors you will find

That's freaking awesome! If I could afford it, I'd buy the thing right now. I would have spare parts for everything, even the paint and graffics are the same.

Mine is a welding tank, only costs me around $20 to exchange for a new one and it usually will last me around eight refills (four 37's, 8-12PSI to 30).

After having the Co2 tank for a while, I find myself airing down for just about every trail. Even if it is an easy trail, 15psi is a LOT smoother and comfortable than street pressure.
