dude, you got a sick thread going

the only thing i wish is that i had a play car like this (and the funds to play with it) so i could actually take time and care about what I was putting in instead of rushing it to get it back on the road.

You have such a sweet rig! But what's gonna be even better is when people are gonna give ya praise for it cause you built it yourself. Now that's cool.

Thanks! This is actually my one and only vehicle, I try to plan the projects so that I have the vehicle to get to work Monday morning. Even with the SAS and rear suspension, I started Friday night and drove it home Sunday night. I have had things go wrong, but overall it has gone pretty smooth.

Couple questions for you. Do you have the dual case setup still? Also, how much longer / shorter is the gear driven t-case setup than the stock case?

I sold the reduction box and adapter last week. There's no going back now!

I have not measured how much longer the single gear drive case will be over the stock set up. From what I have researched, it should be about 1 1/2" shorter than a manual dual case set up (or around 5" longer than the stock auto set up). I've had my old set up for so long I have a really good idea where everything will be and how it will all fit together.

Thanks! Do you live in Summit County? Let me know if you ever want to do some local wheeling.

I got a little more work done today. I spent the day working on the wiring for all my lights, etc. I still have a little more to do , but it's getting close.

On the last truck I added things, removed things, moved stuff and created one hell of a wiring CF. Also, the relays and fuses were under hood and would sometimes get wet, creating issues. On this 4Runner I decided to do it right the first time. I wanted most of the wiring to be run at one time and out of the elements, after a bunch of thought I decided to mount most of the stuff under the driver's seat. I also added two extra circuits for extra stuff down the road.

Cool set-up. How'd you get primary power into the box?
Got a parts list for that little box?

Is it even possible to put dual t cases behind the auto? I heard the trans and t case shares the same tranny fliuid, Ie not sealed between. I ditched the auto for a r 151 I pulled out of a previous turbo'd truck. not envious here cause i'm on my 2nd turbo but I love your build so far.

Yea the rear heat is nice, it does a pretty good job of heating the back seat area. I hardy ever use it (there is usually no one in the back), but it's a nice option to have!

As for your wiring, I don't know how bad it is but I think it's better to rip all the old stuff out and start new. I've had a few vehicles in the past, that had crazy wiring by the PO. It's also nice because you know what everything does and where it's at.

My amp is mounted under the passenger seat, I have 4 gauge wire that runs to a dist. block right before the amp. The dist. block has one 4gauge in and two 8 gauge out, one to the amp and the other now to my relay/fuse box. My amp is not that big, and I have it set fairly low, so it does not use that much power. Also, I will never run all of the stuff at the same time.

I also hooked up my ground the same way, there is a bolt that runs though the box (like a stud) and the relay grounds are hooked up to that, along with a 8 gauge wire that runs to a good ground. It helps to clean everything up and run as few wires as possible.

The box I picked up a Target for a couple bucks (comes as a pack of two, which is great because I broke the first one trying to notch out the plastic). The relays and relay pigtails I got from Delcity, they also carry the fuse block but I've had mine for awhile.

You are correct about the auto transmission and transfer case, but Inchworm makes an adapter to go from the auto transfer case to a gear drive transfer case. At first I was going to convert over to a manual trans, but with how clean the vehicle is I deciced to give the auto a shot and try to keep that cool factor. I will be running a single 4.7 case so I can keep the rear heat.

Not really, I was planning on doing it last weekend but the twin stick I ordered fom FROR never came. It's been over a month and they won't call me back or answer their E-mail's . I finally left a message for them to cancel my order and I ordered Trail-gear's twin stick, along with the new HD T-case mount they have. I plan on doing the install this weekend, I figure I will start Friday night and try to get a head start. Cross your fingers that everything goes well!

There is a guy on this board who had some vibration problems with the HD mounts and an automatic transmission at idle. Just an FYI, he said that it transferred most of the vibrations to the frame and cab.

Do you have any more info, or a thread? I still have my old stock mount that was in the green truck (along with a couple spares), but it's seen alot of stress and looks like it could start cracking.

The green truck had Rockstomper motor mounts and they sucked in a street driven rig, tons of vibration. I really just wanted something strong, that I didn't have to worry about breaking or causing any issues. I'm going to have to give this some thought, I figured that they would add some vibration but that it would be minimal at the t-case. It's going to be at least another week or two after the new t-case install before I get the crossmember / t-case mount figured out, during that time I'll be running the stock auto set-up.

Brian from FROR was in Cali at the King of the Hammers. I know there were several other people trying to get ahold of him as well.

I really want to go twin-stick sometime, maybe when I buy my buddies R151 turbo tranny, swap the 21 spline input for a 23 spline, and upgrade the rear output to the chromo Longfield output. I also need to get rid of my square front driveshaft and get a long-slip round shaft made to run higher speeds on the trail without beating myself up)

Funny that you just ordered a HD t-case mount, I just ordered a 4x Innovations mount through Marlin (along with their kickass front inner axle seals ). I've heard they can produce some vibs at high speeds (don't have to worry about that on 40's and a non-cool kids 22RE non-turbo ). I've been playing with fire the last 2 seasons running 1 stock rubber mount (old school All Pro t-case skid only has a mount for the rear case). I'll feel much better with a HD mount even if I get some extra vibration.

Nice work as always J!
