I thought for sure that the tranny gave up the ghost, I was looking for a place to turn around and ran into a couple ATV's that I could hardly get around. After reversing a bit, I started back up the road and what would you know; 4 low for some reason was not working before, but now it was. This was after about 1/4 of a mile and several forward and reverse sections. Once 4 low was really working, the day went pretty smooth, besides for the bad shuttering when it's in reverse and the couple times the tranny seemed to be really slipping.
My transmission does the same thing. I will shift the shifter and it won't go into 4lo. I think it is an electrical issue, because if I shift it into 4lo with the ignition off, it will start in 4lo when I crank her up again. The transfer case is basically a 2 speed electrically shifted transmission, so you should be able to rig something up (that's what I am starting to work on).

Though I plan on running dual cases eventually...

As far as the slipping, have you checked the transmission fluid? Being low on fluid can cause slipping.

When I get my heater working again, we should go hit up one of those trails by your place and I can check your rig out in person.

FWIW, the All-Pro ones are made from .120 wall HREW. They are only 2" longer as well.

For the price it's a good deal. I just want people to know what they are going to get when they buy something. I need to get the 35's on before I make up my mind.

I agree that extra plates on the frame are always a good idea. On the last truck I did not have plates (with 6 arms), and I did not run into any issues (after MANY hard hits). I actually mushroomed the bottom of the frame in several locations from hard wheeling. I plan on adding 90 degree gussets to the top of the arms if the sliders work well for me. Good info on the All-Pro sliders, as well.

The last time I checked the fluid it was good. I've never wheeled an auto before, so it takes some getting used to. I also think that there is something wrong with the trans or torque converter, reverse and being stopped in drive causes some pretty bad shuttering (both wheeling and normal driving).

I'd love to show you around, but it better be soon. A couple more weeks and there will be too much snow. Let me know when you can make it up.

Cool, that makes me feel better about getting them. They seemed like a good tire at a good price but I never really heard much about them. I can't wait to try them out

I've read a lot of reviews from people who beat on these sliders and have no problems. I will be using scab plates though.

It was a recent change. Marlin used to use DOM but now only uses HREW (last time I checked).

No, I did not.

I got my sliders back in April of 2007 way before they made these changes. Brian told me IN PERSON as he was welding them on that mine were made by 4xInnovations.
