New photos, I have not done any hard-line masking in many, many years. For those who do not know, I used to be a professional painter. I have 10's of thousands, if not 100's of thousands of hours masking under my belt. I did this too two pulling this morning while watch "Power Nation", it was very relaxing and quite rewarding.

 

He's back! wow that's going to be a darn pretty 22re! I know your too far in at this point, but wondering why you didn't consider a 3rz or 3.4?

So, perhaps I should explain why I have stuck with the 22re. This is my daily driver at the moment. I lent my supra to my brother because he needs a car more then I do. Swapping to a 3RZ would have been wise and better in the long, but I needed to solve my transportation issue as quickly as possible. A swap would have taken more time then I should be spending getting my truck back on the road. Several posts back I stated originally I was paying a mechanic too build and swap the longblock, but that was taking way too long just to put the longblock together. So I needed too take the reins and make progress that I could see for myself, and know where and when the work was actually going to be finished. It is possible to do a 3RZ swap cheaper then the rout I am going but that is not super easy and would most likely cost me more then I am spending now on the 22re. Over all, my goal was to drop a 2JZ in it, and I may still do that, since I could sell this 22re for a good price, but that would be pretty far down the road.

In the end, I am sure I will enjoy the stroked 22re, and I will be able to add my experience with it too the yota community. Currently I feel this is money well spent and I will let everyone know in the future if that opinion changes. On top of what I have said here, This is a hobby and I do not know at what point I will feel finished with my project, This is just another step in a long series of steps.

 

i do hope that you spend some money on an alarm/immobilizer this time around. itd be a shame to see this one stolen.

I got an update regarding the machining of my block, yesterday. The machine work was all finished, and then it turned out the machinist used the wrong cutter and bored the cylinders .002 too much. The machinist thought he would just get a new block and start over, however he is learning these blocks are getting old and many are not serviceable. Yesterday when the machinist received another block too work on he discovered with out magnafluxing at Three inch crack in the block. At that point he decided to call me and update me on the status of my block. Now the machinist is on the hunt for a good block and tells me he will get this fixed and squared away.

I am blown away by how long all of this is taking. My truck has been down since December, and my brother has my Supra Monday-Friday. I do not know how too express my frustration. I guess we are all Human.

 

At least he was honest and upfront about the mistake, and is willing to make it right. A lot of shops out there no longer act this way

I did thank him for letting me know what happened to the block. I am just really tired of waiting. life does not stop while I am having to wait.

No new info yet. I call the machine shop again today for a update. I hope to pick up the my parts this week.

"WOW", is right, and today I finally have an update.

I GOT ALL OF MY PARTS BACK FROM THE MACHINE SHOP TODAY. It is all ready for me double check clearances, paint and reassemble.

It is not the block I brought into the machine shop, but it looks like it will do.

Tomorrow I get to start making more progress on this thing. I am going to check that the bore and mains are in specification then start cleaning too prep for paint.

 

It's a good day when you get your parts back. What was their explanation for changing out your block? Just wondering.... I think I would want back what I gave them.
