Your making some really good progress, I really like the looks of your gages in the pillar! I'm definately going to get one of those for my 4runner. If you don't mind me asking, what brand/kind of paint did you use to paint that? It looks like a really good match to the factory interior color! Again nice work!

Ed the paint is from Wal-Mart the first color I got was to light so went back and got a darker one it was to dark…..So being cheep I put a good coat of the light on let it dry and then just dusted it with the dark after that dried I took some 4 oooo steel wool and took the gloss off to match the interior.

Thanks Chuckar! I appreciate it! Man you did a really good job matching it! I would have never guessed that you used 2 different colors to get it to match up!

Nice job on the paint, .... and HEY, I also got one of those bearings at Napa for my idler.

I just hope you go whatever length is necessary to be sure that tank is not full of rot...... 9 YEARS???? lol. Wowowow... I would think that something akin to 'Primordial-Toxic Avenger Soup' is in there by now, no? lol. It's a pick up... so yeah, maybe getting in through the Fuel Pump door for a GOOD FLUSHING is out of the question.... But it's not that HUGE of a deal to drop the tank... Especially with that much in there. Wait..... HAVE YOU dropped the tank already?(If so, I'm sorry, lol)... Yeah, it's not a huge deal to get that last Gallon out of there and drop it and then clean it up like Terry mentioned, above(He's quite the restore freak! hehehe... JK Terry... You're quite a restore genius in my mind!)

Watching. I can't wait to see this beautiful rig on the road again!!!!

You was talking about the bad gas in the tank. If you drop your tank skid plate, there is a tank drain bolt on it. I think it is a 17 or 19mm bolt. If by chance your fuel pump is bad, you can get a pump for $30 off of ebay. It is listed on my 88s build. Anywhere else they start at $150 and up.

Thanks Chef..lol..I seem to get every problem on my restores

We have tank…well the tank came out pretty easy broke the plug to the sending unit the big thing that cracked was the rubber filler hose to the cap…..Let me just say living in AZ means no rust for the most part but every piece of rubber on this truck is as hard as a rock some of them I think I could break in half and the edges would scratch the paint. So I need the new filler hose to the cap, the hose from the tank to the steel line, the hose from the steel line to the filter, and the hose from the filter to the fuel rail, out of the 4 hose only the filler hose is available from Toyota $72.99 the other 3 they don’t make any more so I hope someone can help me out with a source for these hose. I want to go with new ones I just have a thing about fuel leaks and fire.

PS. I didn’t take the pump out went to a BBQ so I don’t know what it looks like in side but there is fuel splashing back and fourth some came out it is a little thicker than diesel fuel so maybe not to bad????

The hoses from the metal line to the filter and from the filter to the fuel rail have banjo fittings on them the one from the tank to metal fuel line have flared fitting on them I was not aware that they had theses kind of fittings I also don’t know what kind of pressure the fuel injection system runs under and if standard fuel line will work I just don’t know enough about it ?????

The engine looks great! Nice work

I think that is cool seeing the adjustable cam gear you put in. We just ran a lab at my school where we had an engine with cam-phasing on a Mazda2. The cams in that car had +/- 20 degree change. Great work again

WAIT! lol.... Just be sure to be VERY careful while removing those screws holding in the filter... THEY ARE VERY often a problem for many people as they freeze up and ruin the head

I used a tap-driver, for breaking them free. 2 of them were nearly frozen in there and almost stripped when doing them with a screwdriver, freehand... The 'impact driver' worked with 2 taps and did the trick without creating spark, etc., lol.

Best wishes, buddy! Truck looks SICK! more pics! lol. (I know, I've seen it... But just some 'fresh perspective' shots, please? lol)

Go to "classifieds" and look for "JBM715"...> his name is Jimmy Bowers(SP) and he's got quite a bit of stuff, including in his store on Ebay. I would BET he's got one! If not, I apologize for leading you on lol.

1300% markup... talk about extreme overpricing. Should be a $10 part at Autozone but no one makes these anymore... I saw some mfg OES makes them for $65.... but like any weird part on the web you don't really know what you're getting.... since the damn part #'s never match. There's different models for different size tanks.
