Ok, well I know it's kinda long , but geeeeeesh! Jk..... Lol. Anyway, I think under the seat or in that other spot under the dash is still the best idea. I hope everyone had a good weekend... Man this site is dry! I would think with this economy more people would be working on the Toyotas! Hahaha... Just kidding, stuff's just dry from time to time.

Chef - man I have had just about enough of you! First I watched both of your VSV videos, and one of them I watched a couple of times. Then you make me sit through a 27minute video on where to install your CB! All kidding aside, I've enjoyed them. I'm very interested to see where and how you end up installing your CB, I like that antenna bracket you bought and I may end up doing the same thing.

Haha... Sorry? That cracked me up.... Yeah, I apologize that it was 27 minutes, DANG! I was basically just feeling everything out as I went. I really need to get it in so I can get on with the rock lights and other lights. Also need to order a compressor....but I want to get everything I need for the air in one shot, ya know?

I think most just want to see the end result. I understand you wanna plan out your installs but IMO I rather see where you put it. That why it brings new ideas to the table. Plus it's hard to show interest in something that is related to their/my projects lol. Or maybe the site is just slowing down and people are out and about on the trails

All your planning phases = (teasers) lol. No one likes a tease. Ok ok maybe a little lol. If you ditched the rear seat heater system. That be a good place for the cb install. Otherwise, under the seat or maybe even behind glove box?

.... Oh I know, but really its just helpful to me too really think things out so that I can do it once. This thing is very small so it's not a big deal if I had to move it later on. I think I under the seat is the best idea, as I will not be putting an amp and I still would have plenty of room for other gear under there. I don't really have any need for it to be in the dash or up in that area but I would consider the glove box and I didn't plan to take that out the other day for something else... One could even store the Cobra in there and then just pull it out and still close the glove box.... and then I could just hang it from the hanger while on the trip and then Toss it back in the console or glove box when I'm done with it. . Mounting it in the glove box or in the console is another case of why give up that space and also why allow it to sit and its own little hot box? Hahaha. I don't think it's really going to get that hot, that's more likely going to be the handheld... Unfortunately that cord isn't very long or I could possibly mount it behind the glove box and then run the cord to that plate that we can mount/fix the 5 pin to..

Oh, and I have no rear heater... But I do have the double console so it is very limited room under there. I would just remove the console but where is bolted to the new triple stick customized Bezel, it's a bit of a pain in the ass to remove.... I wish I could have just kept that mounting bracket for where the console joins the shifter bezel, but I couldn't. I used machine nuts and bolts. Trust me, its tight right there and not very fun, but I did get it nice and snug and it is very solid now... It just makes a little more difficult to remove the console.

Well, I will try my best to just make the next video installation instructions. Just wanted to get some ideas from people... S'all good.

Hahaha ...... Yeah, in the video, I really lean toward the under the seat idea. Also,.... I almost paused and threw a one liner out for the reach around comment,.....but thought I should just move on! Hehe.

they do have right angle MIC plugs that a cb shop can put on for you mine has one as it makes it easier on the cable when the radio is mounted on the trans hump next to the passenger seat which we cant do in these trucks (least not my big 148GTL)

just letting you know for possible help in mounting options

Hey D! Well, the mic cord is about 6 to 8 inches long and is fixed to the box... I think it will be okay as far as mounting that one through something if I decide to go that route... If I mounted under the seat I will likely just leave it how it is and ditch the plate. If I'm out the remote unit under the dash, or under the radio to be specific, possibly even behind the glove box as well, I would very possibly need A right angle plug for the coax portion. That is the portion is more likely to be towards the rear so that the mic cord can come out towards the driver or passenger area... So the coax right angle connector could be a possibility if it comes to that.

Thanx!

Great pics.

The Smitty Bilt red tag doesn't stay nice so long once you go mudding.

I wanna respond asap..... huge dinner clean up. SLOPPY DRUNKS! Lol .....

ANNNNNND,...... I'm trying to upload a video from today about the radio. I wish I had a text friend that lives near me or that stopped by often... I have so many damn technological problems with these darn ComputerNator machines! Hahahahaha....
Actually this problem in particular is really just that when I watch the videos on my phone they are perfect... However I wanted to load them on to my computer so that I could splice them together into one... So I'm waiting for one to upload right now and see if its doing the same thing. they copy over to my computer just fine... But then when I go to play them they're all broken up and pixelated... But the audio is fine! Wth?... I think my computer is really messed up but also I believe it's getting very high in storage used. I don't know, it's time I really clean that thing up anyway and just move all of my auto pictures off of it, videos as well. I have a laptop as well I don't need to keep everything on my PC. What's really pathetic is the thing is slower then my four or five year old Vista Toshiba laptop. Nothing just kicks arse! I'm serious, it's so fast, and it's not as though it doesn't have anything stored on it... Something is just wrong with this PC I guess. Maybe the video card. I will watch the uploaded video from my phone and see if its all messed up. Like I said it's weird because the audio is fine.

Be back in a little bit

URP to you too :-D

a cb will work fine with the engine off but it will use power more than a radio will

where ya got it a right angle mic connector would be VERY handy

munch munch LOL

video removed by the user... Hmm suspicious.....

looks good still if ya keep the connector in there id get a right angle 090 degree mic connector its not expensive but will make it a longer lived cable
