Posted some pics in the last post of the previous page. I'm going to do a video of the disassembly and reassembly of Rory's kit.... It's gonna have the linkages removed to hammer the tunnel more. .. Then go back together with new control arms.

Far as the rear heater..... can't have that and a double Decker console..... And I would not give that up for that rear heater. ... It was an either/or option, KWIMean?

Damn that sucks about the triples Mark, can't a guy get a break once in a while?! Console > rear heater any day so i get what ya mean there, how often do you really sit in the back seat and wish you had heat, NEVER. Your not the only one with bad-luck yesterday... 3 wheel studs sheered off the second gen when i went to take the tire off. old and brittle steel makes for unhappy endings. Good luck pounding out that trans tunnel man I'm sure you will figure it out.

well man, i didn't read through the million (at least) pages since the last time I checked out your build, but:
1) I saw the old Mustang photo, I have a '66 I have had since I was 13, ground up rebuilt.
2) I assume the little girl (Abby?) is yours? SUPER cute! My little man turned 4 in May...time flies my friend.
3) Your truck looks absolutely awesome man, congrats on a job very methodically well done.
Take it easy man, talk to you soon.

Yeah, CONSOLE, 2/HEATER, 0 ! .... Actuallyyyyy..... It totally makes sense for so many people... I get it, people like the Dragon and Terry and many others are likely going to be hauling kids around and sub 0 weather... Unless you have fully insulated the rear of your 4runner... It is not warm. Secondly, I can actually see it being very practical for winter camping. ... But personally for me, a guy who is in his truck 90 percent of the time alone?..... A guy whose kids are grown and grandkids are too young just yet Camp on the type of trips that I take... et cetera. It just would never get used and there's no point to having one in my truck.

Yeah I read and commented and I'm sorry about the drama with the rig.

I will post a pic of the mustang on my build thread, so I won't clutter up yours.
I gotcha man, super cool.
Once we get back in the house and get everything squared away, I will continue on the building and then installation of the 60's. I will post as much info as I can for reference for anyone who needs it.

Okay I'm not sure if I mentioned this... But somehow I forgot to update my credit card info with Amazon and the orders were held up. They were all really good about reminding me and holding the orders until I fixed it and the second I did they all shipped. I should get the radio from lower range tomorrow which was the only order that I was able to use PayPal with... Amazon doesn't take paypal as far as I could tell. If I made a stupid mistake on that please feel free to tell me as I don't think very easily! Lol

I'm going to probably try and wire in the CB as soon as possible... I will take lots of pictures and hopefully a video and will likely be posting up my thoughts of where to mount it to get the thoughts from those of you in the know.

I'm guessing that's probably a good idea to do a wiring extravaganza while I am at it, regarding the rock lights and roof rack as well, especially considering I am now going to have to wait a couple days for the replacement rods for the Triple sticks. I can probably use some help on the best way to do this, and right now I will post up a couple pictures of The Rock lights installation instructions and schematic...

I've got kind of mixed feedback regarding the compressor but I will likely go with the VIAIR 480C...... its a 200 PSI/100% duty compressor....... The mixed input has been regarding whether to get the compressor and take combo or just the compressor and mount a tank another brand elsewhere. One of the reasons I do not want the combo to remain together is because its so freaking loud! Then again, it's not as if I needed to be running constantly or switching on and off due to air lockers or something of the sort... So I guess having the tank and compressor combo from them might not be a bad idea... Then again there are options for a frame mounting plate for that compressor and I thought I could maybe mount the tank underneath where the spare tire is..... That is if I do a tank at all, right off the bat...

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...185&cmd=VIDESC

Or just the compressor with a frame mount. .... (concern of theft or water damage? /heat transference to the underbody? ).....

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=261191892604

Frame mount.......

http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=181161870027

So WTH? ^^^^^^^^^^: How does that for a kit mount? I understand from the description that mounts on the inside of the frame rail... Which means the compressor would lay sideways... I can see the slots in the bottom of it... But where the heck is the space between the frame mounting bracket and the frame? Obviously there will be mounting bolt from the bottom... How does the brace secure to the frame and still allow space from underneath for the bolts? I'm really not understanding this design.

Here is another style that's actually I believe for mounting it to the side of something so that the compressor can stand up straight... I understand this one... I just can't figure out the previous one... Check it out...

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=370591318234

Here is another bracket for half the price... Of course that compressor brand says do not trust knockoffs! It says its the same 11 gauge steel... And it even says that it is that brand product... Just not sure why the other one is almost twice as much. I don't want to skimp I'm just curious what you think and more importantly I want to know if you think this would work underneath or maybe even on my side panels at the base or floor... In other words I would use the side panels to screw in the bracket to mount and then secure it to the bracket underneath. I could use t nuts or something really strong for the half inch birch panels.... But I think it would be better to mount it to the frame and I can easily remove it when I'm not on trips... Then again it would be nice to have if I get a flat or something..... Okay so here is the Viair name brand version( at least I think it is?) .....

http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=141008370700

If I mount that mount to the frame and not of my compressor beneath, could I then mount the compressor where the spare tire was? As long as its mounted properly for the train is at the lowest point... And I have a filter... Why wouldn't it, right?...

Just curious what is the best way to go. That one deal with the compressor and tank seems like a really good bargain! Obviously it's big and I would have to figure out if it's going to stay in the car and if I need to dismount it from the tank when I go on longer trips: or if I'm going to mount a tank underneath? All things I need to consider and I just want to get this over with because I've pretty much decided on that compressor. If someone told me that the twins ARB tank setup is twice the product in Quality and otherwise... I might consider that even though it's a little pricier... It seems so compact and high powered... But the cheapest I can find it for is like $449. It comes with a huge kit and a travel case... I mean if I don't need a tank because of that thing maybe it's a better way to go? I'm just not sure about 90 pounds as far as air tools, without a separate tank, whether or not the ARB is worth it or not. Here it is again just for s and geez! Lol.....

http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...d=261236670191

That really seems like a smoking deal and there's only a couple left and I would want to jump on it if it was the route that I chose. The problem is not so much which one is better... They both have a great reputation. The problem is which one is more convenient! Which one is more practical?

Making me feel lazy yet again Cheffy bro.

I'll post pics of my renovation when I'm done so you can see what has been keeping me from sweet wrenching. Only crap thing is I'll have to renovate the next one right away. We don't want to renovate and move out for the third time in a row.

Can't believe my house sold when it wasn't even for sale yet.

IMO now just IMO

no ones gona sit there an steal just the air compressor their gona take the entire thing boss you got some serious $ going on that said in your wiring blitz put in a hidden kill switch would ya... thank you

i dont see a ton of heat from a well made compressor head or the motor not enough to heat a body panel up if it is then somethings wrong

the arb says it will drive air tools but so will any compressor its all in the CFM check your tools see what they need then the compressor outputs the one closest to your tools best thats the winner the ARB has a cool design nice a compact but does it CFM with the tools needs?

the comp bracket your wondering on it says it down in the description it has to be welded to the frame which really limits your compressor size to the height of the frame the last one which bolts on looks to be a better choice as it can be adjusted to the compressor head/tank size

Sorry to hear about the triple sticks, grrr.. The rear heater does work great in colder weather, in sunny California, something you might have used once, lucky you.

I would like the VIAR system if the compressor and tank could be seperated so as not to stick so far down. I like the CKMTA compressor, just not the price. I would wont one that is out of the way and one I could just leave on at all times or real quick and easy to remove, which I am not sure how that could be done.

Thanx guys. .... I will post up some information tomorrow. I think I have a spot where I could mount that one bracket up on the frame underneath.

Not really much of an update, but I am stoked that stuff is starting to come in. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get to the lights or anything... Lil bummed.... But I've been very much pulled in all directions again lately. ..... It's my pleasure to serve, so I'm not begrudging it. ... just would love to get started.

If everything goes well I am meeting Jason tomorrow in Fontana... It's about a 50 mile drive or so and I am dead on at 400 miles on the rear diff, currently... So, as you obviously already know what I'm getting at... Woohoo! I will do the changing of the fluid tomorrow if all goes well, maybe the next day if I get back after 4, as I gotta work dinner.

I also went through and checked all the U bolt torques and so forth..... And I will be doing all of them while I'm doing the lights/rock lights/compressor wiring.

Package 1. And. 2. Arrived....

PS> I am still planning to do some measurements on a mockup with cardboard to give an idea of where I might be able to mount the compressor. Like I said, just been going like crazy... Sorry guys

That's a nice piece to have mark. I'd like to buy one to avoid having to use the cell phone(if any service that it) plus we really needed it last time. The guys were going ahead and didn't notice 3 of us overheating lol Ruben came back about 5 min later after realizing that nobody was following him anymore.

Agree. Better to use a radio than a phone when in a convoy for many reasons.
  • You'd have to use up your air time IF you wanna stay online on cell all the time,
  • You may not have cell signal
  • Hard to start a conference call on cell, while on radio one transmission and whole team hears you.,

Happy Friday, guys! Doing my tranny and transfer case (Redline MT-90 75/90) this weekend.

Yes! Thanx buddy.... and....

I still have to go through all the driveshaft bolts, etc... They were very thorough with getting things snug... But just a few always seem to vibrate a little bit loose. Most everything was okay... But everything pretty much uniformly can use a bit like the U-bolts. It took at least a full turn and a little more on some to get them to 100 pounds. The bomb proof transfer case mount provides a bit more vibration at idle, but it seems to work itself out as soon as you get on the gas.

Another thing I have that is intermittently annoying me is my air conditioning VSV. .. On some occasions I click on the air and right up to 900 rpm it goes. Other times, I would say half the time, it absolutely does not idle up. I'm going to give it a little tap its not working today and see if it comes on. I know there's a plunger in there the cleaners or close is over each port... Electronic so it could be that as well but I really think it's just that they get stuck after 30 years. I hope so because my relocation mod has been working really well. And, well, while it is just a matter of convenience it is really annoying to have it dropping RPM's when it cycles.

Yeah it can be scary. I don't really listen to anything but talk stuff on the road. It's just more relaxing to me and kind of sucks me in the conversation to where Timeflies a little faster. Very easy with the 20 12 pound Bearcat speaker nearby to tell the difference when let's say Richard says, "Holy Rubber trees, all four of your wheels fell of man!" Haha, just kidding but you know what I mean.

Nice bullet point presentation! Very clean and well laid out... And unlike many presentations it actually makes tons of sense and is definitely true! Hahaha. Hope the fluid change goes well. Take a good look on that magnet for goodies! Lol

Dang, thanks! Lol.......I would love to meet up sometime, seriously! Time is so hard to get free and speaking of gas..... It is soooooo out of hand for so long for most of us. ..... These government bureaucrat pigs have really transformed our lives in regards to how much we travel and so forth... Just by the manipulation of gas prices! I used to take off to the Kern River or the Sierras every other week. I remember just around the year 2000, I would stop in Weedpatch on the way to Kern River and fill up... 99 cents a gallon!!! Anybody going to honestly try to tell me that is normal inflation? I will be sooner than later and I will definitely be down there for Tierra del Sol. You better get your butt over there this time! Lol
