Ha Chef I forgot that you sell parts sometimes.

Are you buying and stripping Toyota vehicles? I was just saying in my thread that I might fund my build like that. When I move South from arctic Canada I'm going to prowl write off auctions for an engine/tranny. Or even better a 80 series and take the entire driveline. Part out the rest for cheap so it moves quick and recoup some of my spending.

Good tip, I think I'll start hording.

I can't sell anything from up here so the 2nd Gen parts rig I have will be kept for my spares. It's a 22RE though so my buddy got a good score getting all the stuff I can't use.

YES, PLEASE DO..... I wanna see that show visit Canada! hahaha.... JK, and I totally get it. It's helped my mom out in the last month, to the point that she'd not been able to have done it, otherwise! So, THANKS TO EVERYONE who came to me... And THANKS to CA Weather for providing things that others actually want! hahaha. Seriously... VERY good to hold on to CERTAIN things, though... As much of it is less and less available every day. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hold onto anything, really... BUT, gotta do what you gotta do, am I right?

PS> VERY excited to see your rigs next thing, whatever might be most practical

Hear ya on everything... That truck was CRAZY silly... BUT, tell him that, right? I'm sure he had 30K into it, easy... heck, maybe in just those rims.... 28" or so? lol... The tires, too.... can you imagine how pricey? Then that paint, not my taste, .... but also NOT CHEAP! ..... haha... I'll give him an A for originality, hahaa.... F for FUGLY to me! lol. Headrests are likely already taken... Were within 10 minutes after posting that. I've tried to hook up others with them, local buds... But most people are watching the pinch right now, ya know? S'all good... I can get more/as can they. THEY DO ROCK THOUGH, William... Honestly, for touring/long drives? WAYYYYYYYYYYY more comfy, as I can feel that wrapping around my head/forward enough to actually support my neck without putting it back.... As I said, 'ERGONOMIC'! Not really gonna argue about the guides.. BUT, my original guides lasted 165K miles and were 100% IN TACT, not a chip. That could have QUICKLY changed, at any moment... BUT, then again, waiting any longer to do them, like 260K, ..... well, might pose it's own problems, right? lol... Still, better to not grenade a driver side guide into the crank case..... I've heard that's not 'optimal', yeah? lol. BUMPER? YES! I REALLY like it... and while I think it might be made for Rover by someone.... it REALLY looks like a smittybuilt I've seen lately... They're new line... I LOVE THEM! Probably not EVEN as strong as the 1.5" DOM or HREW... but, .... still looks pretty stout to me~! 4wheelparts has the new smitty's...... AND diamond racks now... BUT, only problem? ONLY FOR JEEPS, PRETTY MUCH EXCLUSIVELY! I think they should rename it, "4wheelparts-screweveryonebutJEEPowners-.com" hahaha. (TIP; CALL THEM, ...they are often rude, but ALMOST ALWAYS helpful to me, if you get the right guy... They WILL find most things I've asked for, including the OME Spring Pack I've been peeping out, lol. OME009D or whatever, lol.... NOWHERE to be found within the online catalog.... But 5 minutes on the phone, "Want em mailed to Compton store? Save 50$ Shipping?"..... "Uh, CAN YOU SAY POLLYWANNACRACKERALLDAY?", HAHAHA... Actually, still held off on that... MOST everything I have even on top of parts income has to go to help with this one time Cost mom is stuck with... BUT, looks as though it's gonna be only 3 months, then it's done! AND, I might have enough to do a couple things I've wanted to, via my own savings.... JUST HATE to not keep EVEN A TINY nest egg for a rainy quarter or so, ya know? I GOTS PLANS FOR HER, lets just say that.... I wanna do all this stuff once, then maintain it for the next 15 years, into my late 50's, early 60's! WOOT, she'll have over a half million miles on her by then! YEAHHHHH! Oh, that's right... that's only if mizzzzzzz pelosi and the like let me keep her! lol.

YEAH, that's what I said.... So much so that I had to take a pic.... I mean, I know, it's just a bumper... and heck, might not even look good on a toyota.... BUT MAYBE WILLIAM CAN PASTE IT ON MY RIG!?!?!?!? Using his skills? hahhaa. NOT volunteering ya, William.. just curious... I couldn't do that, at this point in my learning of Puter graphic Art, to save my life! haha.

Great talking to ya, Richard..... KEEP IN TOUCH! <<<<< Keep doing that, as well, sir! AND YES, MUST WHEEL SOON, VERY SOON, FEELING LIKE A CRACK HEAD THAT NEEDS A FIX! lol.

L8r t8rs,..... And

************************************************** ***

PS>>>>> Picked up a Two Wheel - V6 Caliper Rebuild Kit today...... 20$ for USA Made Kit/Seals and C-clips.... I just COULD NOT tell my brain to shut up and relax, "they're good, it's fine, SHUT UPPPPPPP!".... hahaha... Wouldn't have it, so it made me DRIVE TO THE STORE! haha. Hey, as I've said, which is no great revelation..... BRAKES ARE #1, ......as should be the whole of their parts, right? .... Aisin Master, Aisin Calipers, Aisin/Bendix Booster?(I'm guessing "Bendix/MASTER-VAC" made ALL THE USA Dual Diaphragm boosters for Toyota and others.... I WOULD BET, ... cuz I've not ONCE seen, in 20 boosters I've peeped out at the yards, ....ONE Booster that was without 'BENDIX', and the part number being an odd one, on the top... NOT 'Toyota/Aisin'....

OK, so I'm not POSITIVE on this.... But that would be a STRANGE coincidence, ..... every one of 20??????? I'll get a pic of what it says.... I almost feel like that's not the case on my 1st Gen... AND, on the booster somewhere, I KNOW I saw it... a Larger Japanese Symbol... .... ANYONE KNOW? I suppose Google will answer this one as well.... lol.

*** The kit is by Wagner, Made in the USA, available at O'Reilly's.... Other names in other states, I'm aware, lol... SHUCKS? hehe. 10$ per wheel... 8 piston related seals per caliper....Plus two tiny inner seals(not sure I'll mess with those, from what I've heard)........

So far, the Calipers with the Aluminum Caliper Paint.... I like em.. At least they'll reveal leaks quickly, lol... GOD WILLING THAT I WILL NOT HAVE! lol...>>>

That's exactly what I thought when I saw that bumper.

Sup brudda! 2 light coats, under 10 min apart, then heavier/medium coat. Autozone had it anddddd the caliper cleaner. Its tough paint..... Unfortunately, I will likely nick them tearing down to do the seals.... No biggie. THANX for the props

Its a smaller range/jeep style rover, I've seem similar on jeeps, but iagree, one should really plan that out! Sup Ocell?

Hey Guys, .......... just had to tell ya....... I had to retake the written CA DMV test today, .... after like 15 years I guess? I did have to study a bit, as there's MUCH on there today that was not on there 15+ yrs. ago, ... so I'm glad I did. I got only one wrong. Was a sign that showed two lanes separated by broken lines...... Then the line on the right came to the left in front of the broken line as that disappeared, .... but the solid lines never touched. I thought it was "Space between lanes is narrowing" or something like that..BUT, nah, lol.... It meant, "right lane is ending". I always thought that was with the 2 solid lies ending in one... BUT, guess that's either changed or I don't remember it.

BTW, WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYONE ON YOTATECH??? hhaha..... A HUGE Rave or something? lol.

Haha, I had to take a class c license test when I had to get my class b cdl here in CA cause I was still running around with my OR license. There were a couple I had to pause and think about cause I pretty much just studied the class b cdl, air brakes, and tank endorsement stuff. The big trip up when I took my license test originally was that the middle light is amber, not yellow. That, amazingly, tripped up a few people in my driver's ed class. There was also only 1 other person in my class of about 40 that could drive a stick! We got put paired for the driving part of the class, and it worked out well cause she wasn't a half bad driver or hard to look at!

Chef, those cleaned and painted calipers look snazzy. What is your address so I can send mine down for the same treatment? Actually, mine were replaced a couple of years ago and still look good.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL, .............

Yeah, I know, has that ever preceded, "YAYYYYY!" ???... lol......

NO, actually, it's nothing terrible or anything.... BUT, seeing that I'm usually trying to "do things right the first time", .....and seeing that I'm USUALLY pretty decent at OVERKILL on the research..... I guess I will have to chalk up this "MISS" to getting older and being overwhelmed! lol.... (Add a touch of ''EXCITED TO DO THIS MOD", as well, right? hahaha)....

I've been looking into the V6 Brake Upgrade for a while... BUT, as some of you know, it's full of MANYYYYYY options, ... at least in regards to years/application, etc. Well, I first want to thank CORAX ( a seriously generous dude as far as his time/sharing information and such that he's found/learned....) >>> THANK YOU, CORAX, for doing much of the proverbial-"heavy lifting" of research on this! Your write up in expedition portal is VERY well written, complete, .... and YET? ...

YES, you guessed right, ...I TOTALLY read and then viewed right past a picture! THIS ONE! >>>>>

*INFO FROM CORAX*;

"Here's what I found on Toyota caliper cast marks awhile ago:

TOYOTA TRUCK
8173/8174 95 ALL S12WE

4 Runner
8171/8172 95-91 ALL S13WB
8169/8170 91-88 ALL S12W R/L
4407/4408 87-84 ALL (4 Cyl)S12-8

Landcruiser
1478/1479 92-91 ALL S13WA
4407/4408 90-75 ALL S12-8

TOYOTA TRUCK
Pickup, Hi-Lux
8171/8172 95-91 T100 Pickup 4WD 1/2 Ton S13WB
2011/2012 95-89 2WD 4 Cyl. l 17S R/L
1242/1243 95-89 DRW AISIN 1 R/L
8567/8568 91-89 Long Bed F18Q R/L
514/515 91-8/83 2WD, 1/2 Ton AISIN
4407/4408 88-86 Long Bed 4WD W/4 Cyl. S12-8
4409/4410 85-80 Long Bed 4WD S12+8

*************************************************

*ALSO from CORAX*;

Rotors;

Here are the '88 4runner rotor specs:

# of Bolt Holes:6
Bolt Circle Diameter:5"
Diameter:11.375"
Height:2.535"
Maximum Lateral Runout:.004"
Thickness When New:.79"
Discard Thickness:.709"
Vented / Solid:Vented
Center Hole Diameter:3.942"

Here are the T-100 rotor specs:

# of Bolt Holes:6
Bolt Circle Diameter:5"
Diameter:11.41"
Height:2.59"
Maximum Lateral Runout:.004"
Thickness When New:.985"
Discard Thickness:.905"
Vented / Solid:Vented
Center Hole Diameter:3.942"

Corax said, "So the only real difference is thickness and overall diameter - if you saw the "height" is also different, that's only because the rotor is thicker and the height needed to change to keep the rotor centered in the caliper.

The calipers are a simple bolt on affair, the only thing necessary is little bit of trimming to the backing plate."

YES, I read that as well^^^ , ........... I just, again, thought it applied to his SUPER-T100 CALIPERS!...... which it turns out, as mentioned, are the same as my Before 10/95 4Runner Calipers.... haha. OH WELL... Live and learn.

*ALSO from CORAX*;

1Ton Master Cyl Info;

Brake Master Cylinder for the following 1 TON Models(1-1/16" Bore Master Cyls):

1996 Toyota T100 Pickup : 4-2694 2.7L DOHC - Notes: w/o ABS
1996 Toyota T100 Pickup : V6-3378 3.4L DOHC - Notes: w/o ABS
1997 Toyota T100 Pickup : 4-2694 2.7L DOHC - Notes: w/o ABS
1997 Toyota T100 Pickup : V6-3378 3.4L DOHC - Notes: w/o ABS

1998 Toyota T100 Pickup : V6-3378 3.4L DOHC - Notes: w/o ABS

*** Corax found this 1-1/16" Bore MC a bit needing of too much PUSH, as the bore is bigger than he needed for his braking system( Corax; "*note* unless you also swap in the dual diaphragm booster, don't bother with the 1 1/16" MC - pedal was too hard, I swapped back to the 1" MC"

HOPEFULLY, I will be ok with the;.......

1. S13BW Calipers from the Low Mile 95 4Runner(Will have all new Seals in them) 20$ for the pair at PYPart 50% off day.......

2. Running these PADS; (THANKS for doing that research, GREGO!) ADVICS' Made For Aisin under Aisin's Strict Supervision. NOT positive on Grego's... But Mine are Carbon-Ceramic/Premium Advics HD Pads, Got them from NAPA, walked right in and picked them up for 59$/20% off- Preferred Customer something or another(OEM is listing 2 listings, 74$ for one and 86$ for the other[WITH my 20% off], .....and my buddy at Toyota Parts Counter said, he believes the difference is one is Semi-Metallic and the other is Ceramic>>>) Toyotapartszone.com lists 2 part #'s as well... And I believe THAT is because the 95/11+ Model 4Runners had different goodies, Calipers and all, plus 2 bolt master Cyls, etc. Either that, or again, a difference of Semi-Metallic or Carbon-Ceramic..... AGAIN,... I went with the nicest ADVICS/made for Aisin, I could find, with a 'Walk IN and Buy Factor in mind'...... (Part Number link... http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...91V_0265432557 )

BUT, PYPart staff puncture every one of them they can with a screwdriver and force them off the screw to drain... I FOUND ONE that wasn't, ... Cleaned it the best I could... And while it's a lil stained in there, it's very clean compared to how it was)...

4. OEM 2nd Gen 6/91-8/95 Dual Diaphragm Brake Booster (From what I've read, which is now making more sense, the larger demand from the Larger Calipers and Larger Master Cyl. required a Larger, Dual Diaphragm Brake Booster[Also found on the Turbo 22RE's and many other Toyota Vehicles] 16$ at PYPart 50% off day.........

5. HART Black-Zinc Rotors, slotted and drilled, made of g3000 Iron and will be running the ADVICS- Carbon/Ceramic Pads on them.... I KNOW, I know, they're just bling... But I don't care... if they help, great... If I am unhappy with them within a year, ... the warranty will be used. AND, they are machined RIGHT NEAR ME in Garden Grove, CA! .... Here's the Link(I AM NOT recommending them or anything... Just sharing where I round them. I discussed this with a buddy on here, and being made of the same Material as Prostop and Brembo, etc., .... I will be doing a completely separate thread, short and sweet and to the point, once I've added up everything and installed it and added all the resources I got this from(For example, from Grimreaper and Corax and XXXtreme(WHERE THE HECK IS HE? haha), Philbert... and many others. All the links, etc., will be included. I will do that single post here, as well... But, I figured I'd update my buddies, in case anyone is contemplating doing this. UNLIKE 'MANY' what shall remain 'unnamed' here at the moment- mods.... This is one I believe I've yet to hear a "NOPE, stupid move... waste of money!"... People ALWAYS seem to say "WOW, what a DIFFERENCE!"... Often, just from the 1" Bore Master! I'm doing all of it to basically give me the 'just right' pedal and LOCK EM UP power that I feel I'm missing. My brakes ARE good... They're just not great. I'll settle for 'quite a bit better', and hoping for 'WOOOOOOOOT!' lol.

Hey there, Matt! Sup witcha, man?

Well, I know others HAVE started with just the master upgrade. I cant remember all the results. And, like Corax said, "depends on which bore u get." I suppose, if u just add the 1" master, ur pedal would get harder right off the bat. It wud push the fluid up to the pressure required by the 4cyl calipers more quickly, ya know? Thus, when Corax had the 1 & 1/16" bore master,....he said "wayyy too stiff for his tastes". The dual dialhragm wud have helped that for him, but he cudnt fit it with his 7MGE he has in there. Thus, he stepped down to the "middle ground" of upgrade ville, haha. (I have to read back to see if he found that result BEFORE or AFTER the V6 Calipers went in..... that would matter cuz the V6 calipers require more pressure to be built up, and therefore, I would think that would soften up the pedal again a bit.) No time to read back right now, I will check back, but I have read several who have said they saw great braking improvement from just the 1" master, alone, into a 22re rig. Many on this site, few on others.
