Gas tank lift

Well its been a while since i have done any mods, I built a bumper for the front and mounted my 9000LB winch also did a 3" body lift and a 2.5" drivetrain lift to clear the underside, I am in the process of lifting the gas tank. here are a few pics!
Here is after I removed the flat original spare tire, in its place I plan to install a in floor storage compartment for spare parts and fluids.

Here is my 2.5" engine lift blocks from 4crawler!

Here is a pic from the side showing the under hang of the tank before the lift.

Here is the cross member cut out before I grind dow the remaining and smooth it out for reinstall of the cross member.

Gas tank removed!

Here is the cross member that the tank mounts to. I am going to weld plates to the ends then weld it to the inside of the frame 3" higher than stock. Idea from 4crawler!!

here is a few of the new front bumper I built over summer!

Chef the tires are great, I still have lots of tread but i dont drive it all the time. I am hoping to get some more done today after work but i have a class from 6-10 so may not get to it and its supposed to rain tommorrow. Toyo did you get that kit from TG? I still need highsteer setup minus the arms.

Did some more work on the rig yesterday, started to french the rear spring hangers. I have TG spring mounts and they are going 11 inches forward for my new f150 springs. and i welded the plates on the end of the crossmember for the tank. here is a few pics

cut frame for the new hangers with a plasma cutter.

holding spring hanger in place to get an idea of what it will look like.

here is the new spring hanger tacked in place. took a while cause have to measure and measure again before tacking in.

Here is The 1/4 inch reinforsment plate i made to strengthen where i cutt the frame, just need to clean it up and weld everything in.

Newbie frame hacker questions

Is that the "by the book", eg recommended, install?
Does the forward cut get a plate, crossways to complete the boxing?
Did you fully weld the bracket to the frame before the reinforcment plate is added?
Wouldn't it have been better to make that plate flush with the top of the frame rail?

Really like your front armor, it has a nice organic look!

As far as by the book not sure if this is the best way or not but it will work. I did weld a plate to the front of the spring hanger which did box in the front. I fully welded in the hanger and then the 1/4 inch plate after. I just used what i had on hand so didnt make the plate all the way to top of frame but should be plenty strong for what i do. here are a couple pics of the hanger all welded in. next I need to do the crossmember.

thanks I am no welding expert but i think they came out good. Here is the last pics for the gas tank lift. it was more work than I thought but it cam out good, just have to put the skid back on and it will be complete.

here is the tank mount cross member welded back in place 3" higher!

Here is the rear tank mount, just cut out a 3" section and then weld back together.

Here is a shot all painted and tank back in, look how much less the tank hangs below the frame, this is a 3" tank lift!

update

well its been over a year since i have posted in here on my truck. it had been on hold due to other projects taking priority. last year I did my SAS and my rear F150 spring swap. I couldnt use 4x4 because I had to get a front driveline and regear the rear. The front axle is sitting on ruf springs with a couple f150 leafs mixed in, I have an Elocker in front with tg high steer and a surplus center hydro assist setup. I have installed my dual cases with 2 stock 2.28 cases and tg twin sticks on the rear case. I had a front driveshaft made using a tg long spline kit. For the rear I have a grizzly locker and rotated the spring purches to point the diff up at the transfer case output. I made a custom transfer case cross member. lastly i made a custom rear bumper witch i am planning to add a tire carrier in the next week or 2. I just installed some new 35inch at tires with new rims. cant wait to do some crawling this season. Here are a couple pics I took.

new rear bumper

dual cases with twin sticks

front axle with armor and hydro assist

steering box with hydro assist fittings

my new rims 15X8

custom cross member

rear diff pointed at transfer case
