I just sold my Jeep and went back to a 4Runner. I missed having a Toyota and the Jeep just didn't cut it. I scored a 1990 2nd gen 4Runner SR5 with a 3.4 engine swap, Solid axle swap, 4.88 gears, Detroit in the front, Tacoma axle in the rear with Toyota elocker, All Pro suspension, bumpers and sliders, and 35" BFG MT KM2's. I haven't taken it out yet but it should do well. We may hit up Big Bear next weekend.
Time for an update! I need to go back in time and catch up with everything I’ve done, but I still have the 4runner. Here’s an updated photo. Over the pas 12 years the sweet new paint took a hit, but such is life.
It is good to hear from you. That is amazing you still have the 4Runner and it looks fantastic!! That is the one vehicle I wish I kept. I am glad to see it went to a good home. What all have you done to it?
Not enough for a 10+ year update! But off the top of my head I blew the head gasket on my first date with my now wife, which I let turn into an LCE head with a pro torque cam, I got an LCE intake that I bought off Chef before he passed, I did the blazeland long travel kit 4 or so years ago, and recently bought a 4x4labs rear bumper with dual swingout/tire carrier. Also went back to the 15s you had on it, painted them bronze and put 33” falkens. Now with all the weight and tires, I think it’s finally time to say goodbye to the Downey stuff (leaf springs are being held up by an add a leaf, otherwise they’re W shaped). So I’m getting ready to buy Old Man Emu Leafs and torsions. I’m also about due for 4.88s and a front locker.

Congrats on getting married. Sounds like you did a lot of usefuly upgrades on it. I was sorry to hear about Mark passing. He was a really nice helpful guy. How many miles do you think you have put on that motor since you have had it?
In the past 11 years I’ve put almost 70k miles based on the odometer, so probably a bit more. As of now I only drive it once or twice a week, so it finally gets a break.
