Well, upgrades I'm saving for are the IFS steering upgrade w/ hi-steer, which by the way was done once and re-plated to use the old box...New leafs and shocks soon.

I ordered shock hoops and in looking to buy a new front hanger, since I don't trust the old one.

Haven't done much lately. Gathering parts slowly. I did do the big brake mod on the front, LSPV delete as well.

We found out that we are having another Girl, due July. Song have been behind the wheel in the semi-truck a lot lately. Saving money for when the baby girl arrives.

I did today manage to remedy the old shift boot situation and a local u-pull-it had the rubber boots I needed, to keep from fumigating from in the cab.

I ordered this cheapo eBay vinyl boot. Even ordered the "wide 11.5" version. No! Fitment wasn't even close, no worries it was very cheap. After about 5 minutes of looking at the poor quality of how they glued the ends to the metal frame. I was able to mod it to fit.

Removed the frame of the new one and bent it into a new rectangle, luckily the original had about 2" extra of metal to do this.<br/>

Nice work making the boot fit. I like the white shifter knobs and white face gauges, gives it that classic muscle car look!

 

Thanks rustED. I've always been fond of the old white shifter knobs. The white gauges actually did come from my fathers 70' Chevelle SS. He liked them for all of 20 minutes and decided to go back to Black gauges LOL.

 

Will it pass DEQ?

They must have used a regular cab frame for the swap. My free set of half doors was mounted on an 84 Extended Cab frame.

Yes! It will, because even though I live in Portland (land of liberals&DEQ) I don't DEQ. All my trucks and cars like our TDi all are registered at my dads in Coos bay 😋🏁.

Very true, the last portion on the frame of the 86' is cut-off....

 

Since I really like simple mods, with zero motivation today and some sun. I decided to take a walk around the rig and see what I could do. At the rear,
I found the ugly faded gray bumper rubber and corners of the tire carrier.

I walked back into the garage, grabbed a can of Rusto bed-liner and hit the parts with it. Unfortunately I forgot to take a "before" picture.






I wish I had a before picture, but I am sure yourself know very well, what it looks like and how ugly it is.




Next I will do the tire carrier in satin black(my favorite). 😋

Just been Daily driving the rig lately. Parts gathering is going on now, u til recently.

The POS facet pump went out, no surprise. Ordered a new Carter 4070, FPG w/ Filter.

Facet crap pump, I don't recommend his to anyone

 

I used this on the back of the bracket to keep vibrations down





Plumbed and almost read to turn over!





This pump is noisy! Sounds like a tiny helicopter under the hood. Not Pictured, I cut a piece of dynamat and placed it onto the body of the pump. It dramatically reduced the noise!





As well, this is a V8 mr.gasket fuel pump block off plate, works perfectly.


Video of the pump, running. No Regulator necessary, it's like driving a new truck! Throttle response and power now.

Installed new shocks today! Got a late start, but damn! What a difference. LOL. Anything was better than that garbage! Went from shopping cart ride to, a tolerable ride. Actually quite nice ride now with the cheapys surprisingly.

I went with Cheap shocks from Autozone, Gabriel 61656 for a 2001 Ford F-250 V8. $24.99 ea. Flex nice and a great ride, reduced body roll as well.

Specs: 31.5" extended
18.5" collapsed
13" stroke

Only problem was using the bushing from my old totaled Ranchos because the bottom eyelets Bushing was not 5/8".

The Gabriel's are as long as that POS Rancho and extension 😂, collapsed! They travel quite nice. And should be better when my rear leafs get installed.

Man, no doubt! The ride and death wobble were insane! Fixed the DW, drove the rig with the shocks like this for awhile(money issues) Was driving my 09' Taco instead, but slowly been bringing it back to a safe DD/weekend warrior rig.

 

Thanks rust3d your rig too, is looking great! What a night and day difference from the Facet-mechanical pump; coupled with that Mr. Gasket FPR. With the new Carter 4070. It's amazingly fun to drive now, especially with new shocks and suspension bushings. 😁🏁

 

Thanks for the specs on the shocks, good info! What rear springs do you plan to run?

 

Right now TG 4" springs, from a guy off Craigslist. They've been used, but I got them with the bigger IFS brakes for the front axle for $45. Just need to replace the bushings and paint them.
