92' toyota SR5 V6 Pickup Build in Montana
I bought a little truck before winter to build a 4X4 to replace the 03' Chevy crewcab duramax that i had to sell to pay bills. The goal is to spend 5,000 bucks and have a rock solid wheeler.
I have decided that keeping the IFS would save me some money and ride quality for daily driving.
I bought a 4 inch Super-lift kit off craigslist for $500, and installed it myself. I then had to have it aligned by a shop.
I bought some retreaded tires from http://www.treadwright.com 235/85R16. Axiom. they ran me $79 shipped. I mounted them on american racing black steel rims. Since its winter here for the next 4 months i studded the tires and picked a super narrow tire, only 7 inches, for added traction. These tires are awesome and super cheap.
After wheels/tires and lift, i bought some steel to make a flat bed and headache rack.
removed the front bumper and bought a winch mounting plate to build my own bumper form http://www.trail-gear.com. i have not bolted it on yet but plan on doing it today. I installed some mud flaps too.
this is just the beginning and i want to put a locker in soon and upgrade the rear suspension since its leaf springs are flat. Headers, intake, headlights, roof rack, four wheel disc brakes and lot more.
any comments would be greatly appreciated!

ok i was super busy on the build this weekend. i had it in the Renegade off-road shop to get some help. I tore down the rear and installed 63 inch chevy leaf springs, with new hangers custom made at the shop. i did a u bolt flip and relocated the lower mounts for the shock on the axel housing since the old one when with the bottom plate to the u bolts. i also installed some bump stops. i was able to hack the rusty pipe of an exhaust off behind the cat and reuse an old exhaust system. it had the perfect bends and everything so i cleaned it up and hung it from the stock location. just a little welding and the exhaust was done.
Up front i bought a mounting plate for a bumper from All pro for 99 bucks. so i bolted it on and painted it black. bolted on the roller fairlead and the winch. i went with the smitybuilt 8X. but i haven't wired it yet. i also put in some plastic foreign headlamps, they are much better then stock and worth the 30 bucks.
i also wanted to eliminate the stock bumper blinkers. so i drilled a hole in the corner lights and cut the backs off the orange blinkers. then glued the back over the drilled hole. bang i had corner markers that doubled as blinkers.
now all i have to do is bend some steal tube around the winch and lights and i have a bumper.
i also began sanding and fixing the paint job. i going to sand and prime several times until its nice and then paint it red in a booth.
i ordered a lock right locker and a skidplate.
i will post pictures soon
