Placed another order.

This one is for seats.

Got the Baja XRS seats. Hopefully they will help with the back.

I bloody hope so anyway. I don't like wasting money.

I'm going to have to buy some nrw seats soon. My current seats hurt my lower back. Especially on long drives and offroad trips. I need something with adjutable cussions so I don't slouch.

Ill probably go look for some adjustable seats from a junk yard that are in decent condition. Or buy Mark's Scion TC seats.

I need it for my back as well. I'm hoping the suspension will help relieve some of the discomfort or at least prolong pain setting in.

When I heal, I'll just have comfy seats.

Next step is nailing down a plan for a LT kit, fenders and new rims.

If I can make a suggestion, the first thing would be to not depend on those TC seats... I sold them around 2 months ago. .... The second thought would be, that I would suggest that you take a trip down to 4 Wheel Parts in Compton and st in the both old seats in the inventory pick up portion in the very back, the waiting area for parts at the back of their warehouse, and also to sit in all of the ones they have in the showroom... I actually feel like the one in North Redondo Beach of Marine and Crenshaw has more seats in it but I could be mistaken. This will give you a really good idea of which seats you think will work.

Since you are a stocky guy, I would definitely recommend this highly, because some of the seats it felt so comfortable when I sat in them at the yards became not so comfortable after a while in my truck. The very seats that you have in there from a 2nd gen were terrible for me, because the bolsters went to high in my shoulder blades and I have a really wide back. They also pushed in on my hips by my kidneys, & I was in agony after just half a day of driving around. Granted, you haven't had nearly the amount of soft tissue injuries that I have and broken bones and so forth... But nonetheless, Narrow seats don't work for you, and I'm not saying the ones that RED posted in the picture won't work, but I could never use those because they would be pushing in on my ribs and shoulder blades way too much. I need something more like the Corbeau Classic or 2010 Jetta seats or something like that. Maybe Volvo s90? Anyway, all I'm saying is before you make a big investment like that I would really really really recommend you try them all out and sit in them for quite a while while you read something or do some messaging or emails or just give yourself enough time basically to sit there for half an hour or so. I'm surprised that the seats you have don't have a lumbar adjustment on the inside of the seat towards the bottom.....

Minor still pretty comfortable so I'm going to hold off on this but I definitely want to look into it anyway in the meantime. If I find something that's going to work, I'm definitely down! One type of seat that I found was super comfortable was the Honda Odyssey. There may even be a way to make the captains arms stay in the picture... I'm not sure, but I don't think they are too wide to fit, just too tall, so they would have to be put onto Toyota frames, mounting brackets. I could also show you how to take those seats apart and add a firmer padding in the lower back just over the stock padding... You might already know how to do that but you just have to be careful removing the factory covers.

Really good points Chef. I'm a pretty big dude as well.

Maybe before they get too carried away I should consider the wide? They do say that they fit up to 1 42" waist. This gives me a couple spare inches, just.

I do want to be snug as well though. Part of my discomfort comes from flopping about in my seat.

Yeah I'm different than most cases because I broke 11 of 12 ribs, three of them completely fractured, one of which lacerated straight through the top of my lung,.... And 26 other bones including major bruising of my hip bones and both floating ribs fractured along with serious intercostal muscle damage. Combined with the fact that I have a 54 inch chest, I cannot handle seats that come up too high on the side.

My method when wheeling is too sit forward slightly and ride the rocks and burms and so forth like I would a horse. Obviously you can't do that constantly for 3-4 hours, but on wash boarded Road with lots of bumps and so forth, I can sit back and lean into the 1 inch super dense foam that I added, which keeps my ribs that little bit extra from getting jammed by the bolsters. Also not wanting to forget mentioning the kick ass Camry headrests which are much thicker and support my neck a lot more the factory head rests. I wouldn't even think twice about it now, even if I had a turbo with turbo headrests, ....GONE! Lol. I also added a coccyx pillow under the factory cushion right above the phone to give me that extra inch that I'd lost due to the Springs just simply not holding up as well as a 25 years ago. I'm not super tall but my upper body is taller than average and so I have to be careful how tall I go with the seats from the butt to the roof.... I still say first generation 4runner and pick up sr5 seats are the most comfortable out there... As far as something I could go get it pick your part. I have to admit that my sisters 2010 Yukon seats and some polo seats that I've used and even my buddies aftermarket off road seats that have very wide back,.... They might do me better if I could just get ahold of some and make them work. But for now I have to say, what I've done to add push into the seats has made them far superior than they were before I started. If you remember I also had to have the frame welded and repaired where the backrest portion joined with the rest of the frame from the bottom. The TAC welds right there had sheared away.

So I've been asking questions in here about those Interco rims and the Blazeland kit.

I'm dead set on the LT and have the funds ready. New rims not so much.

Mine now are 15" X 10" with what looks to be 4" backspacing. It appears that my rubber also clears the tie rod ends by an inch, perhaps a shade more.

I think I could maybe pull my wheels back in 1" at most after I get the LT kit. I'll get some glass fenders but I'm not going to get new rims until I get a ticket or things get more stable again after the move.

Wow Chef, you've been beat up pretty good.

Update:

Just paid for this kit. I'll get it installed early to mid October. Can't do it myself as at that time I'll be homeless.

Ordered the Sway Away Torsion bars as well.

Stoked.

I am really looking forward to moving. There are sooooo many trails in British Columbia.

I flex out my IFS now but it still leans so much. You can see on my lower control arms round marks from the bump stops compressing hard into them.

Its too bad I'll not have the kit up here. It would be interesting to take new flex photos off that ledge a few pages ago.

After this I'll be looking at either starting a new truck or a rear leaf swap for practice.

My injury being is still being so naggy I'm starting to think about a bigger vehicle at times. It doesn't take much of a drive before I limp out. It takes a minute to stand properly and walk it off.

I like the look of the FJ80 a great deal and it comes with a solid axle and coils.

If those Corbeau seats work out though perhaps I'll get to keep it long term. The 2nd Gen 4Runner really is one of my favorite looking 4x4's.

It's also fun to have such a customised vehicle that you can enjoy after putting your heart into it. I really hope to keep it.

British Columbia is where I grew up. I have not been home to live in almost a decade now. I plan on really living down there. Lot's of outdoors activity year round. I could really use a drop in 40lbs. I'm not one of the fat bastards who doesn't understand that carrying around more than a few extra pounds isn't contributing to my slow recovery.

Besides, how am I going to snowboard or ski again if I don't get fit? Those two sports are what I missed most about traveling. I plan on taking my missus to the first place I ever skied for her first time. I first started skiing 6 days after my 2nd birthday at a place called Mt. Hemlock.

I might need to switch back to skis. I remember it being much less impact? Mind you I'm not a kid anymore, perhaps I no longer need to huck off small cliffs etc.

Your build thread is awesome - the red wagon is probably my favorite 2nd gen on yotatech. I'm stoked to see LT and the new bumper go on  Good luck with the move man!

90Runner, maybe it's because ours are so similar.

Yours appears much less rusty but I plan on addressing that soon.

I got a quote to have them installed but I think I'll give it a try myself. If I take my time and am meticulous, no reason it won't turn out. I'll get the high clearance fenders too.

You guys in America might want to consider this guy too. As your dollar is stronger maybe it might be cheaper. I do my best to buy American or Canadian whenever I can. Other than Japanese import vehicles of course.

;p

On repaint, I'll make it a bit more red I think. Just a little. I like the burgundy red it is now.

90, have you got those speakers installed yet? I have some 6x9's that I have not put in yet. I've never installed speakers before. I'd like to see how you make it work.

Also, have you got that panhard drop bracket yet? Pretty cheap mod to get your axle back in the right spot and to cut out some lean. Over time not having one bent my sway bar links.

Thanks for the compliment and checking in.

groan**

lol

Yeah I need fenders. One thing I'm really looking forward to with having them is not having a constantly filthy truck. I mean, Red is ALWAYS dirty. I thought it was cool not having fenders and having a dirty truck at first.

I'm officially over it... As it's our only vehicle the missus has a hard time jumping clear of the sliders or other dirty bits while wearing a dress or other nice clothes for a night out.

Do you have mud flaps as well? Yours always seems shiny in photos.

Yeah they are in but I haven't got my door panels cut or reinstalled yet. When I do I will make sure and do a write up in my thread with more pics... for now here's one I took before wiring the drivers side - you can kind of see where the speaker sits in the passenger door:

You know I guess I never mentioned it in my thread but I put one in when I lifted the rear with fj80 coils. I forget, do you have rear swaybar disconnects? I've thought about doing that on mine - I removed my front swaybar but don't really want to remove the rear altogether - might make things a little too scary in the curves...

I have improperly set up disconnects at the moment.

They move too much and make noise so I'm not sure I'm really driving around with a rear sway bar anyway.

Is that a 6x9 in the door?

How long has it taken so far?

Yep, doesn't look like it though because a good part of the speaker is hidden behind the sheet metal - the speaker is completely recessed. If I did it again I might trim a bit more metal around the cone so that more of the speaker was exposed - I was just trying to remove as little structural metal as I could.

As far as time spent on the install so far, I put them in and had them wired in an afternoon. I honestly don't think it will take me too long to cut holes and mount the speaker grills in my door panels either, I just have to stop being so busy haha.

I'll probably have them done sometime next week - this weekend I'm running the Rubicon again with my dad

Have you built anything around them for sound quality? Like a sub box but small for a 6x9. It helps them pump out sound properly.

I contacted TAG about my bumper is coming along. It's done and the paint is just curing.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!

It was terribad having to keep moving my tire around in the cargo area last year. Maybe this year my back seat may be empty!?

Good things are happening. I'm even looking forward to my debate with workers comp and my employer next week about my injury. I think I've got a strong case.
