1 Year Update

It has been one year and 10,000 miles since I got this truck back on the road. Since then, it has had some new starter contacts put in, a custom skid plate, and a custom made spare tire carrier.

It still starts right up, and runs strong.

I have had it wheeling a few times, and it always seems to surprise me.

I thought I'd post a couple of recent pictures of it in action.

That thing really amazed me as well haha. I am going back in 3 weeks, hopefully. Interested in going? By the way, when are you fixing those rocker panels?

It's time for another update. I finally took the time to strip the truck down again to give it some new paint. I thought I'd try the Duplicolor Paint Shop product. The following are the stages of body work, and paint.

Stripes gone

I found your thread and read thru it. I have replaced frames on 2 wheel drive, motors, and have done body work also. Just never a complete teardown like you just did, always wanted to. Now Im getting rebuild fever.

by the way, if anyone is looking for a good and solid Xtra Cab frame, I have one for sale... dirt cheap haha. $150 OBO and it comes with the power steering gear box and the entire IFS (with control arms, ADD flanges, ADD hubs, and wheel bearings, no diff though). Get this, the frame only has 83,000 miles on it! I have the instrument cluster from the vehicle to prove this.

Didn't mean to hijack Mike, just throwing that out there in case anyone wanted it. If I don't sell it in the next few weeks, its getting cut up for scrap, which would be a shame lol.

Can you show some pics of your spare tire carrier? I'm looking to make one myself.

Tire Mount

From parts to final piece:

The legs are control and trailing arms from a Ford ZX2.

I used 4 pieces of 1" tubing and bolts to mount the plate away from the legs to clear the tire. I plan to have these pieces welded.

Mounts in the bed with 3/4" pins. Can remove the front pins to lay the tire flat.

That's pretty cool how you used some old, junk yard parts.

I appreciate the compliment! It is still an ongoing project. Something this old always needs something. The radiator and steering box are what it needs now. I put a Lockright in the rear a few months ago, and just recently got some sliders built similar to 4Crawler's design. Next time I wheel I won't need to worry so much about my rockers.

WOW, i didnt fully understand what that truck went through. Im not sure we discussed it that far in depth. Is the picture on the bottom without sliders when we were up at rausch? Im thinking of SASing mine, what do you think? 3 link up front and 4 link out back. But im going to need some assistance.
