Nice work, Joe. Looks like you are getting pretty handy with a rattle can. Its a good skill to have.
Do you have one of those handles to throw on the can so your finger doesn't get tired so quickly? Those are a good 3 dollar investment.

it helps bc then you can at least use 2 fingers trigger style. After hitting up one of my bumpers with a rattle can and getting the finger cramp, and the left hand just wasn't as talented, I got one of those and made everything easier.

well...
thought maybe we'd tackle the impossible task of loosening up the crankshaft bolt.
with the engine on a stand, i figured it would be safer to attach it to the engine hoist again for stability.
using my tried-and-true webbing method, i figured i'd try it again to hold the pulley still.
tied off to both legs of the hoist (see pic) and while taking up some slack.....CLICK...it came loose....just like that...DANG!
the pulley....that's a different story...need to rent or buy a puller,
Joe took off some other stuff and we took off the timing belt tensioner spring. but, for now, we are done, because we need to get that pulley off.

WOO HOOOOO! GO JOE!
Cool to see it on the stand...dang, where've I been? lol. Hope it slides off there soon. Did you try slathering some PB or something better in the Cog Key hole and then pop that lil sucker out, first? Mine, of course, just fell on the ground when I removed the bolt, due to the harmonic being so toast that it had worn into the key till only 1/16" was left of the key, lol. So I guess I have no 'recall' to milk from in order to help out, lol. Couldn't you pry from both sides with a bar and blocks behind them, just tapping on both sides simultaneously until you see if it's tapping off? Might wanna do that even before the puller, just to break it free a tiny bit?
Best wishes, guys,
LOOKIN GREAT! Bet you can't wait until next winter to be DRIVIN THAT SUCKER, EH JOE?????
Take care, Jerry, Joe,
Mark

thanks Mark.
yeh....gave it a little love with a rubber mallet after spraying it down with PB Blaster and also gently pried from the backside.
will give it another shot tomorrow......if not, then maybe the puller

Yeah, that's why I said 'both sides' at the same time... Crank is WAY hard, but still, don't want even a GROOVE in that sucker, ya know? Of course, I had to replace my crank as they didn't wanna sleeve it...and after I've been through the NIGHTMARE I have, regarding the CAM, etc., ...well, I don't regret paying 120$ for an 87 Crank with 80K on it, lol.
Best wishes with getting that sucker off. Maybe straps around the back on both sides and then use the main arm of the hoist to YOINK on it with the straps or even come-along?? Also, my buddy told me he just took an impact hammer and put it against a piece of wood and just vibrated the thing right off there, going back and forth, side to side, lol.

soooooooo......
the 3VZE has a very small area between the back of the harmonic balancer and the front of the cover over the belt.
using the idea that 2 things cannot occupy the same square footage....i decided to try my webbing as a tool again. so i started looping the webbing around....it's the exact thing to use, since the opening under the part with the timing numbers is hardly more than a 1/8'' opening, it was just big enough to slide the webbing in....again and again and again....then i tied a knot near the end with a lop and passed the breaker bar through the lop and pulled it tight and the balance walked almost right off.....hehehehehe
