Charge and brake light IS, INDEED, the "Dummy" warning for "Alternator" or "80A Fuse" ..... GREAT TO HEAR, MAN! I hope you like the EFI experience as much as many of us do, compared to Carb'd. NOT nit picking carb'd motors.... Each have their own preferences with these rigs.... I just love that once I get em right they just GO, .....FOREVER, without messing with them! lol... (forever, of course, meant in a 'symbolic' way! hahahah).

Enjoy, homie!

most of the time. i had this happen on my runner and ended up being a battery. simple test was remove the battery while its running. if it was the alternator, the vehicle will turn off lol

Sorry to say it, but it definitely sounds like its your alternator. Do the brake and charge lights go away when you bring up the rpms? That worked for me for a little while till mine totally crapped out. For the throttle, when is it sticking? During regular driving, or is it when you stop at a light or something and it stays up between 1000-1500 rpms?

i dont think its the alt. i drove it about 150 miles back to chico today and it was fine. had the lights on the whole time though. the lights go off at idle and come on when i touch the gas. the sticky throttle was some gunk stuck on the cable.

jeremys i have 35s on and its slow uphills but fine everywhere else

Hillbilly are you saying that the lights dim down on idle and brighten back up when you raise the RPM's?

Still think it's the alternator brushes or a bad ground/or wire therein. KILL IT, HOMIE! .......Proverbially of course, lol.

they go off at idle and come on as soon as you touch the gas.

i wouldnt doubt it being a bad ground. although my battery was making a bubbling sound out of one of the vents.

the truck also seems to be drinking gas like water, only getting about 14 mpgs...

my guess would be the main ground that goes to the block from the battery. It isn't too short is it? I am thinking maybe when you hit the gas torque the engine over it pulls on that ground wire semi breaking the connection.

lol if you are talkin to me extremebut i am talking to anyone out there, just looking for some more info and comments. I love offroading but it is also my daily driver, my truck does just fine on the road, but going up a pass, it slows down a lot lol. but i do not ever really go up passes. lol.
but keeping the 35's on there ok? i mean, does it put too much stress on the motor or anything? or on the axles? (which im about to do an sas)
which is another thing, you think it was worth it hillbilly? the sas? cuz i just have no flex at all as of right now. seems like i hit a bump and one of my dang tires is off the ground! lol

I love toyotas but i do not know near as much as i would like too. so any input from you guys i would love. especialy hillbilly, i love how your yota looks, i had one just like it actaully, i was gonna do the rollbar and kc daylighters and all that. but then i sold it for twice as much and bought the one i have now, which i plan on sold axling it. possibly locker in the back? but idk how that works with it being my daily driver and all? can you have a locker and still daily driver? and bumpers and winch. then further in the future fladbed with a outer skeletal cage.
i appreciate all input guys. thank you

The reason I ask is cause mine kind of does the same thing and I supposedly have a 120amp alt. When at idle the lights dim and when I hit the gas the lights brighten up. I'm talking about every light on the truck. I have know idea what the problem is. I'll be interested in what you found out the problem is.

sound alot like how mine went. at idle or below 2500 or was it 3500 rpm the lights would stay off. once i hit over 2500 or 3500 rpms, the lights come on. it ended up being a bad battery, most likely an internal short in the battery. i would get it checked asap.

no, its plenty long. i ground all the paint off too so its clean, that ground cant be bad. but i still havent grounded the one ground in the harness by the intake. cant find a good place to. also there are 2 grounds coming out of the fuse box by the drivers feet, and if i ground them they blow the big 40A fuse. ive already blown like 4 of them and theyre like 4 bucks each. if they arent grounded, the truck runs fine

id love to tell you if its worth it, but since ive been having all these engine problems i havent been able to get the front driveshaft made, so i havent taken it wheeling yet. just a bigass expensive paperweight.

nope all of my lights stay bright. thats one of the reasons i think its the battery. i also heard a bubbling noise from it earlier.

thats what i was thinking as well. its about 2 years old now.

i also forgot to mention that if the truck sits for an hour or so, the lights stay off. but after driving it for a few minutes they come back on.

Ohh thats no good, sorry hillbilly..well once ya do you should let me know how it is, once I get my straight axle imma go test its offroad capabilities lol. But any thoughts on what I should do next? I thought of a rear locker but it is my daily driver so idk how that would work with a locker.
