What's wrong, HB? The bushings, BJ's, etc.? Rust? Not sure what you mean by "about to fall out", ...although I DO KNOW what you mean by 'LIGHT IT ON FIRE!', hahaha. Nahhhh, she always beats me with the guilt trip look...then I end up fixing her AGAIN, anyways! LOL.

looking at the pads and rotors, i dont think the caliper was ever locking up.

you know on the front diff how theres that circle thing that holds it on? thats now broken, theres a bunch of bolts missing, and the boots are torn, man i dont even want to deal with it. but i guess ill have to put it all back together. im just gonna cut all the ifs off and put an sfa under there.

Nice thread I have an 86 turbo I like the red and black I have broken that little round piece before on my 94 3.slow have fun with that its easier to fix it if you take the front diff and cv's out and start there straighten the user mounts and weld the cracks now that's only if I understand you correctly as to what the round thing was

these hubs are practically indestructible doubt you trashed them. Not without a v8 or lockers and 38+'s without destroying the cv's and diff. Unless you completely severed the cv at the c-clip but that's not that common on manual hubs. It was more of an issue for the ADD's IIRC.

You could probably fix whatever it is in a day for around 350$, if you just need axles, and you can get the hubs on here and in many yards on the cheap. Just sayin... unless you're ready to park it and start tearing everything off it? lol.

Even if your hubs are locking up or something, .....maybe it's your bearings freezing up and you're pulling hard out of nowhere? I think I mentioned that pages ago, lol. I rebuilt my hubs and even converted them to Manual through a sale on the top end Warns, new OEM Bearings from Napa on sale, ....etc., for about 180$. Oh, plus the grease, lol. Oh, .....and a buddy I know get's good axles for like 70$ each on a STEAL! Not sure where, I'd have to ask him. But, if you're not going to bother, ...yeah, nvm, lol.

really? ill have to check that out. the reason i think i want to just chop all the ifs off is because itll get rid of the pull lol. but i heard replacing cvs was a pain in the butt?

You'd be fine, Hb, ...just need the tools ready to go, you could do it in no time. Plus, if you rebuild the hubs, or better yet, get some functional ones off a wreck for now, ..you'd be pulling the whole hub, rotor, etc., ...then it wouldn't be too much work to replace the CV's and the boots. I know you could do it MUCH CHEAPER than they could, DIY. It might be the parts price if they're getting discount CV's and all new hub kits. I'd ask them, "w/labor??????" lol..

As I said, not trying to talk you into/out of anything. Not in the slightest. Just curious if you didn't wanna spend a few hundy on a DIY job to get you back on the road safely.... why would you be jumping right into a Few Grand SAS? I know, sometimes, people are gonna do it anyway, ...so why not now, eh? lol. Some tear BRAND NEW IFS out of things and do that, too, lol. Hell, for 3G's I'd rather buy an 85 and restore it on the side in my own time.(an 85 that's WORKING at the time, I mean, lol). But again, that's just me, and you probably are looking forward to doing the SAS, so ....whatever is clever for you, Buddy.

My rig is down til at least Friday(waiting for the valve adjuster screws/nuts and my sway bar bushings and drier from Dealerdirectparts.com),...and if you want me to ask my buddy where he got the CV's, I gladly will(sometimes he's hard to get a hold of, but he'll get back to me. He races trucks, so maybe that's how he gets deals. Cuz, ...OEM from discounters, the CV's are 355$ or so each. He got his for like 160 or something???).

Heck, I'm pulling both arms, having new CA bushings put in, all new BJ's(OEM Lower and Downey Mega Travel Upper), BJ Spacers, Diff and sway bar drop kit, OME shocks & Stabilizer, Sway bar bushings... All under 900$, by shopping around. I wanted to do SAS too... I was RIGHT THERE,...but decided.... "this thing lasted 24 years and it's STILL pretty soft up there,...just getting time for it... 900$ or 3,000$ to do an SAS right?"...yeah, easy choice for me, and I'm glad I waited, considering this friggen motor! hahaha.

Sorry, not trying to go on,..just curious what you're gonna do. Wish you were closer, I'd help ya fo sho!

I still do not understand how a bad cv would cause you to pull when the hubs are unlocked.

HAHAHA... Love hate relationship, eh? MORE HATE, clearly, lol.

Anyway.... just trying to think of how they came to that conclusion that the issue with you pulling, etc., was the "CV's and Hubs" ....>?? that right? What exactly did they say? Did they explain to you why what they're saying needs to be done would cause your issues? Not saying it's unlikely, ..just curious.

Exactly what I was thinking.... and "how did they come to the conclusion that your CV's were bad? Did they show you, etc.?". You could see the bearings locking up and causing this though, right B? It happened to me before, and was VERY scary! It also actually happened to my brother with us in the car, ....68 Z28, ..... hauling butt and at 65 the wheel started tugging hard, almost crashed, then the wheel came right off and went under us!

CV's are stupid the first time you do them, because halfway through you realize that it takes way too much effort to get the axle to clear the studs on the diff to drop it out. Then you make a few changes, get rid of the studs, and its a ten minute job for the next time
