That bolt that is broke holds the cvshaft to the hub if is bike like I think you are saying then get a new bolt and washer for the new CV shaft and just leave the busted piece in the old CV

That's true, HB, what NV is saying. But, ....is your bolt flange washer still there on a portion? That why you can't move ON, MAN? lol.

Hey, btw, ....do a video of the Cone Washers flying off like a bullet when you tap-tap-taparoo!, lol.

Seriously, can't you get the 54MM nut off if that bolt is snapped off in the CV end? OH FORGET IT, just put those hummer-tank strip things on there and be done with it! You'll be the TALK OF TAHOE, HOMIE! hahaha.

I seriously doubt you could get it that hot with a little propane torch.

haha thanks for all the input guys! i ended up not waiting for help from my brother and just dug into em today! drivers side is done! i found a punch in my toolbox and was able to finally get the washers off. other than that, no trouble at all. was actually easier than i thought it would be. tomorrow ill be doing the passenger side, and i now realize that the bolt that is snapped is just part of the cv, so i can just get a new one! so im one happy guy haha. then ill finally have my truck back after 5 or 6 weeks!

Good job bubba!
I had to do it on my 87 toyota when i was 16.
My dad left for work and i was home by myself and i just bit the bullet and dug in.
The first time is ALWAYS the worst.
But after that, there's nothing to it

It wont be long before i replace my CV's because my drivers side boot has a hole poked in it from drivin through my buddies field after it was bush hogged.

Oh well Glad you got the drivers side done, now for the passenger.
Good luck! Your making progress!

Nice.

Quick question...Do you have wheel spacers or offset rims?

Im thinking about putting wheel spacers on for my swampers to stick out a little further...

haha i took a few pics but im too tired to upload em right now. tomorrow anyways, got both sides done today, only real problem i had is the studs that the cone washers were on got all screwed up from me banging on em so i had to re thread them but now theyre in. i got a question for yall though. when the truck is in 2wd, and the hubs are unlocked, the front driveshaft still spins like its in 4wd. and if i remember right, the cvs spin too. is this right?

In two wheel drive with the hubs unlocked, the front driveshaft and CV's should not be spinning. The only things that should be spinning in the front is the wheels themselves.

hubs are definitely unlocked though, when the front end of the truck was in the air i unlocked the hubs, and spun the wheels. the cvs didnt spin. and when they were locked, they did. but when the truck is on the ground, the driveshaft and cvs spin like its in 4wd

Good job!

But we still have to figure out why your drive shaft and CV's are turning.

The hubs aren't locked in? and its not in 4hi or 4low?
