Ya, im going back to a regular 22re, and it will be correctly done, not like the PO's master piece here....found several ground wires that we simply cut off...broken pieces installed...yada yada yada....Im not going to be one of those people that the next owner complains about show crappy a job they did fixing on it.

I'm not sure on that, Boosted..... I would ask Tod, Ted or LCE, maybe? OR, call Putney's while they're there, today? I know they did everything for a reason, and I'm not sure you want the oil 'much cooler' than it runs WITHOUT the turbo. The Turbo, as you know, heating up things a bit compared to the 22RE. You could be right, but I'd check, man..... after all, you just said, "I don't want to the next owner......"......... And btw, WTH? HAHAHA... NEXT OWNER? How could you? hahahha, jk.

Incredibly good point chef, never though of that. Maybe I will delete it after all then...Ill get ahold of the appropriate people and see what they think. IMO, and thats all it is, cooler oil = higher viscosity = better lube...but like i said, thats just what my thinking tells me, and we all know that sometimes thinking isnt always best. Thanks for the extra thought in that, ill definitely be checking in with MR. Ted today and see what he thinks. Deleting it wouldnt hurt my feelings either, one less part to go bad. And ya ya, I know...next owner...I really wish it didnt have to come to this, but I got me a kiddo on the way, first one, and Im needing something a little more family friendly. Gonna be looking for a 2nd Gen 4runner likely, something with 4 doors and a smoother ride...and oh ya, a/c wouldnt hurt, freakin texas heat this year is outrageous. We will see though, still trying to talk to the wifey about maybe just investing some more money into this thing and fixin the a/c and what not...

3RD GEN, BEEN WANTING ONE FOR A LONNNNNNNNG TIME! lol.

Anyway, ... I hear ya, and sure, you may be right.... But then again, ...my stock 22RE ran 260K without a rebuild and didn't NEED one even then, as much as "it was nearly time"(compression, etc.)... I'm not sure that by 95 they wouldn't have added one(they didn't, did they???? hahaha).... So just curious.... "Is it best to run it as intended or leave this", ....that'd be my question to Jim at 22reperformance.com. Tod or Ted I'm sure could have an opinion on that as well, right? With Ted, send him an email, ....he'll get you usually within an hour, ya know? LOTS of guys on here would know that as well, ya know? Just that it's a weekend, good luck! lol.

Ordered a NEW head and NEW timing cover today. Bought some orange, black, silver and clear paint for deatil the engine with. Might take the silver back, thinking of doing a black/orange theme on the engine. Let me know what ya'll think.

Hmmmm, well, what do I think? I THINK IT'S YOUR TRUCK! lol. Your engine bay is black, right? Either would look good, one would look "LOUDER",...you decide, hahaha.

Red and Black, Silver and Black, Orange and Black, Yellow and Black(bumble bee? eh, lol), .... heck, pretty much anything looks good with black, just have to picture it in there, and then remember, you wanna see things easier when you're cleaning(or if you by some FREAK chance have a leak).... so consider that, too.

Just personally? Black and Orange ALWAYS says "Halloween" to me, ...so I might not go that route, but it WOULD look good if done right, I can see that! Only reason i went red the first time, .... "Looks", .... only reason I went 'Alumicote' color the second time around? I HAD PLENTY OF ALUMICOTE! lol. hahaha.

X2 on what chef said, I lean towards bright colors becouse that's what I like, and like chef said it makes finding leaks ETC much easier. But in the end again like chef said its your truck and the only one that has to like it.

Alright guys, your opinions have been heard, and I dont know if I had just never thought of orange/black being halloweenish or not, but thanks to chef, that is no longer my color, cuz all I can think now when I figure orange/black is a jack-o-latern, and thats not getting in my engine bay. Ive decided on Blue/Silver/Black. Pretty much a Ford blue. Got quite a bit painted up yesterday, going to be doing some detail painting tonight on it (like the "toyota" word on the valve cover and the "efi" on the upper intake). Should have my head in here shortly too, so ill start assembling as much as possible onto that thing as well...really hoping to get specs back from the machine shop so i can get the overhaul kit ordered...running out of time :S

Oh GRRRRRRRRREAT! Now I'ma be to blame for the "Great Jackolantern Fall-out"! hahaha. But no, SERIOUSLYYYYYY Boosted..... like I said, it's up to you! And dangit, I didn't mean to get you to think that for the purpose of turning you off to it.... I'm sorry man! But the long and short of it, IIRC..... YOU ASKED! lol. No, in all seriousness, hope you have a good one, get a lot done this weekend and 'DOUBLE CHECK' yourself every step! Exciting, dude!

LOL, its all good chef, im glad to have your opinion on this, really am. Besides, blue is my fav colour...I prefer it anyhow. Its gonna look pretty sick I think, real clean. Anyone have an opinion on painting the throttle body?? I took a wire wheel to it and it actually cleaned up really nice, but I saw the "aisin" and "toyota" logos on the throttle body and I figured it might look cool to do some detail painting and make those stand out.

I think the colors you picked will look great. I'm a big fan of semi gloss black on brackets and pulleys.IMO Don't know if that's what your painting black but I think it would look much cleaner than gloss on those parts.

shanks Ive decided while I had my engine out that im going to do an egr delete on this thing too. Ive searched and seen lots of threads on this, meant to ask some of the people who did, but didnt. I can eliminate a ton of the vacuum lines by doing this mod cant I??
