87 rebuild 4x4 5 speed

Ok so I guess I'll start with a little history. This is my second yota and I have had it almost 2 years. 3 months after I bought it, it threw a rod though the box and I have had nothing but a mess of issues since. Now I I have the money to fix many of these problems. Number one is instead if keeping fighting with my old used engine I'm buying a new long block. Well that's the easy part.
I also have to replace the carb. And I'm trying to decide what to go back with. This truck is my dd but I also hunt with it so it will see some trail time. I commute is almost an hour one way and it is interstate the whole way. I have really been looking at getting a weber 32/36 but I would like to be sure it is really gonna be worth it, and still give me the power I need and mpg. Any input???

My personal opinion is to keep the stock carb, the oem service manual breaks down every single part of the carb so you can understand and rebuild it. There are even aisin ( oem brand of carb) rebuild kits available for it. In the long run if you want it to run good without any quirks stay with the aisin carb.

I just put a weber 32/36 on my girlfriends truck and it's an 87. I bought the kit from LC engineering with the spiral adapter, fuel regulator, and gauge for $450 and I couldn't be happier with it! It runs better than her old stock one plus got rid of all the vacuum lines. Also have seen an increase in mpg by about 2-3 mpg. I would recommend it.
