Cruise control

Just received another cruise computer from ebay.
This was removed from a running 86 truck

with working cruise;

OEM part.[/SPOILER]

Not as advertised, plugged it in and fired up self mode #2 and got the 41 flash faulty code same as the last one.

Ranting

Well eBay seller hasn't responded to me about the cruise control, cute they were very prompt with the bid offer.

My eBay denso sparkplug wires didn't arrive, my tracking number says they were delivered to somewhere in Lancaster California yesterday.

My "new" denso tps arrived and was obviously a used one complete with salvage yard paint pen marking and not even the shined up used one depicted on the eBay advert, my fault for not noticing it was a used unit in the ad but theirs for sending a different than depicted. Ad one has an arcing scratch across the cover, received had none and is kind of grimy. I ordered in a rush on lunch break to have for my day off install and missed the "used" condition and the paint pen dab on a mounting ear.

Local Toyota dealership lady charges me full list price , and then some. Distributor cap, rotor, sparkplugs, and an oil filter 72$ should of been about 35-40!

Sunroof woes

Traveling north east yesterday outside of Fort morgan on I76 (75 mph limit) I got slammed by a thirty mile per hour gust head on. It felt like hitting a wall, shortly after I noticed the increased cabin noise and a new draft coming from the sun roof area. Dropped speed down a few times till I am putting along at 50, and finally dropped the cover off to find I can see the glass lifting in the front center section. I was worried it blew off some glass, but it is all still there.

I wound up driving the rest of the day with it open and the aerodynamics held it on and down just fine, but I was sucking exhaust the whole way. I am still running quite rich judging by my clothing smelling like gasoline when I got out..

I need to find some disassembly photos of the sun roof, its needed replaced due to cracked glass and a possible water leak. Now I am afraid it's going to fly off and hurt someone, plus I don't like sucking on exhaust fumes.

No bueno..

Found this yesterday getting ready for an oil change..

Last weekend, found the driveshaft was "out of phase", and there were no rollers left in one side of the rearmost ujoint became obvious.. Dropped a new Moog 255 in and its like a whole different ride now.

Also had to replace the cold side of the intake tubing. I drove thru the ditch awhile back and the air box pushed it over into the exhaust manifold. Symptoms where a progressive lower idle requiring throttle input to keep it running at stop lights..

Used another flexible duct and cheap spectre rubber adapter from the parts store. Also cut a bit of AL sheet for a heat shield. Need to order some good silicone parts and mandrel bends, but don't recall what size... Particularly the oem 90° elbow its not going to survive to many more "off and on" cycles.

Need a new drivers side surround for the door controls before the controls fall into the door. The forward stand off broke and its split at the rear..

Raining out no images..

Was heading into town to look at a rental unit, to get out of my kids place. Pulled on to the highway and started rolling up the windows. Woosh, bang, thud. Before i could get the window down, it got some air under it and flopped over onto the topper. It looks like it popped loose on the passenger side first.

Rust is bad won't know how salvageable untill I can off, properly, its still covered in uncured window goop in some places.

A little over a year ago this engine came to life again. Not quite a year ago I started daily driving it.

Toyota, I am loving it!

There is always a list of things that can be done, and an even longer list of things that could be done, but none really that need done. (Except the fluid change coming up) gas mileage is still pretty non-surprising @18mpg

I don't know what these little trucks have, but people fall in love with them, they're not the fastest, the most powerful, the most efficient, the most comfortable vehicle, but they're amazing, the best looking trucks, simple 30 years old technology, they go wherever you ask, it feels sooooo goooooooood to drive them. Besides that there's a big community of enthusiastic Toyota owners proud of their vehicles and happy to help others. Glad to see, after all the time, effort and money you've invested in yours, you're finally enjoying it. Thank you for your rebuild thread, I've learned a lot with it. I wish you the best.

New battery Tuesday, new alternator on Saturday morning, three hours of freezing peasoup fog two foot over the rumble strips with cow haulers flying by, and then fours hours of sleep on Friday night.

Thanks guy who can not read the ATF fluid requirement from the power steering cap and put in power steering fluid instead.

Thinking it's time to start sourcing new radiator hoses also, I've got some weepage showing on the cord/reinforcement it several places. And of course can smell it (antifreeze)..
