Rick's 85 4runner build *now turbo 2rz*

So I bought this is feb of 2012. Got it for 2k with a spun barring. It already has duel cases and rock sliders. It was lifted all wrong and has bald 33s on it so I knew it needed a full build when I bought it. Here is a pic like 3 days after I got it and about a case of beer with buddys and we thought it would be a good idea to "camo" it. lol not how I pictured in my head.

So I have had it for about 11 mounts and it a long ways but I can;t sit here all day and post stuff so I will add a bit at a time. Thanks hope u enjoy.

So the motor had a spun #4 rod barring. It was a 20/22 with a webber and I hate webbers so I swaped a 89 efi and harness in.
Then I did ruf with 2 85 packs mixed together but when I did the duel battery's and winch and cage it was sagging in the front so I add a 2wd rear 1 ton pack to the other 2 rears and now it works tits!
The rear got a set of 63s. I moved the front hanger 11.5 inches froward. Made my own shackles 12 inches eye to eye.
Put in a wide rear axle. welded both 4.10.
Built the front axle with longfields, arp studs, 6 shooters, Trunnion Bearing Eliminator, longs hub gears, arp hub studs, fj60 rotors, ifs calipers, and fj80 master cylinder.
Then I got some new to me tires. Irok 42s! Wanted 39.5 but got a good deal on 42s.

The wife kept giving me a hard time about the "cow" so it was painting day. And for once she was wanting to help so I put her to work until the whining got to be too much! In my head it was just to keep the cage from rusting. Not to get rid of the sweet snow camo!

Did a double day wheein trip and broke the rear drive-line on waterfall on saturday so I went home cut the bad end off and welded a new one on. Then on Sunday I broke the rear diff so bad it shot a piece of the rig gear out of the back of the housing.

So I had a big 4 day camping trip coming up for the Cascade Cruisers Cruisin' the Woods 2012. The wife is always cold so I put a heater in for her. Funnie thing is we didn't even use it, LOL

Also was thinking I was going to do some night wheelin so I got some new lights. Only thing is that didn't really get used either cus of the dam camp fire and whisky time. LOL

So the fj80 rod ends where going out and I don't want to keep replacing them so I up graded mine to hiem joints. I also beefed up the drag link and tie rod. I say "I" but this was a trade deal with Wahoo fab. I think he normally dose it for about $300. Way more beef and no more fj80 ends. I also had a front spring hanger so I put that in as well. Moved it fwd about 1/2 inch.

The rain is here and the kidos need to stay dry so I cut my top in 1/2 and I'm going to build something to close it up just dont know what yet. I'm also trying to cut wight so I took the tail-gate off and sold it. Also I'm getting old and blind so I need some rear lights.

SO after a snow trip it was cold! The snow was blowing in the back so I had to do something so a trip to Lowes I got some plex-glass and built this. Kinda dorkey looking but works. The snow trip after this was nice and warm. I'm going to get some sheet medal and close the bottom in.

On the new years hang over run 2013 I broke the 21 spline input. So its time to upgrade! The bad thing is I have an old Marlin crawler MC-03 adapter and I called for 3 days and someone finally answered the phone to tell me they never made it in a 23 spline so I had to buy a new adapter from tg and now I get to redo both drive-lines. O well it will be worth it in the end. Just to make it clear I HATE Marlin Crawler there customer service is the worst I have ever had to work with! And when I do want something its out of stock or way to much money. I'm not a big fan of tg eater but at least they gave me a 23 spline input for free under warranty! I also had a issue with my Longfield output shaft and the machining on it. Drove up and talked with Terra and she fixed it next day and shipped to back to me no questions asked! They have the best customer service I have ever worked with! I will always buy there stuff when I can or have a choice.

So I got the rest of the back wall built. I know the glass is cheesy abut it keeps the heat in and the rain off my kids and its only for winter anyways. I'm by no means a body or sheet metal guy but this is what I came up with. This is as close as I come to "body work" LOL

This was on sell and I'm a sucker for a good deal so I got it.
