I'll have to be pretty good with turning on the GPS every time, but I am going to get a fill up afterwork..
Locker is being shipped on SAT!
So a question for all of you...
now just have to decide if I want to put it in the front or the rear...
I have heard that lockers in the front can make steering difficult on slippery surfaces snow/ice/mud
Then again I can unlock the hubs..
Downside of putting the locker in the rear is dealing with the locking while making turns..
This is my daily driver and I live in So Cal.... someday I would like to put a selectable locker in the rear...

Detroit Michigan!
getting 3rd with 4.88's and Detroit all ready to go!
and I already have another third with 4.88's
so soon I will have two stock 3rds and one with broken teeth sitting in the garage..
Going to have a friend double check the lash before I put them in

I'd be torn on which end to lock. I have an Aussie in the rear, there are some small driveability issues that you have to deal with:
- it clicks around turns, not terrible, but to a lot of people probably sounds like something is wrong with my truck
- the truck sometimes bucks going around a corner when I'm just letting it idle around the turn, did not seem to do this before the locker
- and of course every now and then that BOOM when the locker locks or unlocks
Seems like for DD'ing all that would go away if the front was locked. But, I wonder about turning tight turns on the trail with the front end locked. It would be nice to be able to unlock the front end in that case with a switch. Of course you can always get out and unlock 1 hub I guess.

detroits don't lock like aussies!
you should be fine with it in the rear. it ratchets to allow the outside wheel spin faster, but the inside cannot spin slower than diff. it's smooth operation. you might not even notice it

that was before i knew it was a detroit
detroit --> rear, aussie --> front
my $0.02
twin sticks doesn't disconnect the front wheels from the diff. if you had an aussie or spool in there, it would still lock up in turns (assuming the hubs are locked)

I barely even notice my Detroit in the rear. You will get used to coasting in turns at low speed on pavement. Im running a Detroit in the front also, with twin sticks you just pop it out of 4x when in a tight turn. Detroit will pop real load every once in a while. Not enough for you to get used to it, so when it does, you'll flinch a little. Once in a while you can hear the ratcheting too, but not often.

[QUOTE=Outsane;51880254]a buddy of mine is telling me that with a locker in the front, I can drag myself up stuff better then I can push my self up..[/QUOTE
only way to go if u wanna do anything challenging

one would think so. but when going up hill. all the weight is in the rear. you want it in the rear imo. more weight more traction, the front end will be light with little traction even locked
