My 84 pickup ground up
#62
Small update,
Managed to put the tranny on the engine, new pilot bearing, throw out bearing, clutch, pressure plate, ect
Took the engine off the engine stand and mounted up all the parts and bolted the flywheel and finally got the tranny to line up and got it bolted before my hoist gave out...............so much for getting it in the truck frame. Had to pick up another ( heavier duty) hydraulic cylinder, the one I had was only 3 ton, now I have an 8 ton, should work. Not sure what the engine, tranny, and transfer case weight is, hope it works...........
Of course the weather turned south on me today so for now I'm on hold. I'm glad I did get to do something on it but the cold really takes its toll
Seems I might have to take my front wheels off to lower the truck, might make it a little easier to get the whole thing in. I still can't get the whole thing balanced out so I'll have to lift the tranny end while I try and roll the lift under the truck. Maybe I'll wait for some help on this, we'll see if I can do it myself.
Got 2 of my shocks but the bushings won't be here till Tuesday, the other shocks will be here Wednesday, I'm not in any rush, just getting all the ducks lined up

Well, another update. The weather wasn't so bad today so I went out and did some stuff.
With the new hydraulic cylinder installed in the lift I was able to get the engine and tranny loaded in the truck, talk about freaking out, boy I was. Sometimes doing this alone is scary, make that all the time not sometimes. Anyway managed to get it in.
Here's some pics
Now here's a pic of my front drive shaft, seems a bit on the short side, I think I might have to go with some sort of spacer on both ends to make it longer,
Any suggestions out there? I'm not sure what's available out there to fix this
Here's a pic
Probably need about 2 inches to be on the safe side
So if anybody knows let me know.
I found these, anybody ever use them?

Lastest update
Got to mount the exhaust header, muffer, and tail pipe. Put on the carburetor, air cleaner, PVC valve, gas line filter (not bolted in, it bolts to the cab) spark plugs and wiring harness (LCE) and valve cover and filter. And front and rear shocks. Waiting on the drive shaft spacers, 2- 1-1/2 for the front and 1-1" for the rear
I think I am as far as I can go with the frame and engine till the body work is done and the cab, fenders, doors, hood, and bed gets put back on, that will be awhile. Spring time at best.
Here's some pics for those of you who want pics
Cheers!

Sweet build hump, truck is lookin good!! Thanks for taking us along.
84 pickup 4x4 xtracab cc brackets:
There are two brackets that attach the console. One in front and one in back. The pictured bracket is for the front. I’ll double check but I’m pretty sure it will be the same for the back. Let me me know if u need any more detailed pics

Well. being houseridden because of my cold/flu and the weather I was looking at the bottom of my cab which is standing up in my front garage. There seems to be "dimples" in the floor near where the shifter plate is in the trans tunnel area. There are 2 on top, these are dimpled in towards the cab and 4 on the bottom dimpled down from the cab. Judging from the pics that chowboy sent me I believe that these are the alignment dimples for the brackets that hold the console and shifter cover. Can anyone confirm? Has anyone added a console to there rig and found these dimples in the floor?
Wow, that makes it easy to align the brackets. Did Toyota not think of everything?

I probably won't do anything special, I'll raptor line the inside and floors, don't want carpet, not when you plan on doing some off road. I did pick up a set of buckets and a console out of a 92 or 93 4Runner which fit perfectly and in pretty decent shape.Black raptor and the rest of the interior will be gray. The outside I haven't decided on a color yet...............
