Nice work on the swap.

The inlet and outlet on the radiator are for the tranny cooler in an auto trams truck. I also have those on mine, but are just left with nothing on them. I used an auto radiator since that's all I had laying around.

Well i had to hook up battery to old alternator cable to power up stuff. That problem was solved but now she just cranks.

Im start checking everything. Mainly stuff i messed with then work my way out. I used the afm from the 3.0. That wouldnt be stopping it from turning over would it??

Maybe?? I'm not certain. But I'm not sure if the 3.0 Afm has the wire to power the fuel pump like the 22re does??? Just a thought

Have you checked fuel pressure? Maybe se if the pump is turning on.

I am thinking its the afm. That would stop it from starting correct?? I dont have a fsm so im not sure of exact method but i got one from somewhere on here and its says to test resistance through all of them. It gave specific measurements for each connection in plug. I didnt get anything on any of them minus one which was supposed to be infinite and i got few different numbers for that one.

I may have done it wrong but i did it correct i believe. Im thinking my wire job was bad. The wire i used is tiny bit bigger than whats the wire is. That wouldnt affect it would it?

I dont think a 3.0 afm will work but I could be wrong on that, I have never tried it and seems like I have seen others mention about not being able to use them.

Are you getting fire to the plugs? With the fuel pump jumper (should be listed in pic below) I pull the line off of the back of the fuel rail and with the key on it will fill a quart jar in a minute or so to check for fuel isssues.

Is you timing on? Then if all that is good, I see if my injectors are firing. To check that I do the "$3 Noid light thread".

How to get Check Engine Codes. I just put this up for others. Applies to 87 and up. 86 and older is the bottom picture.

The Diagnostic port for the 85-86 is on the Drivers side inner fender and is nothing the same as the 87 and up. Here is T1 and E1 jumped. The codes and engine flashes are the same as the rest of the trucks on the dash.

Here is how you do a Fuel Pump Bypass on the 85/86.
Jumper wire the Yellow Plug on Drivers side. ( Jumper wire should be in both contacts for testing, I just didnt have it in for picture purposes and mostly a referece for me at a later time.)

Fp +B Fuel Pump Test for 87 and newer. Use a paper clip for better results.

Well i switched over the afm to the original and it didnt work. I didnt know to set engine a tdc when i pulled dizzy and i moved engine a it when i was doing belts. Im placing my money on timing. Which i will do as soon as i am home. I work away for two weeks at a time and yesterday was my first day at work.

Im gonna check that as soon as possible when i get back though.

Im going to orer a winch plate an the frame brace for it. An recommendations? i only have seen two options, trail gear or addicted off road. Im leaning towards trailgear cause i could put in receiver piece and shackle and use it as tow point.

Any thoughts???

Ive also determined i just don't find the yota reliable enough or practical as dd. So im looking at some trucks. Id like to stay yota but im just not sure im a huge tundra fan. Current generation or last gen of them. I am looking at newer silverados. Ive owned a Silverado in past and enjoyed it. Anybody own one??? Whatever im getting is going to be crew cab.

I have a crew cab f150. Bought it over the silverado since it had more room for us and our twins. I love it!

Runner looks great by the way.

I don't have any recommendations on the winch assembly. As far as crew cabs that would be great and a truck I would like to own. As far as the Chevys that you are mentioning, I would stay away from the 04-07ish years. We use them as company trucks and nothing but problems. Even as I am typing this an hour ago the Chevy stopped running on me. Luckily I wasn't out in town.

They have so many problems with the cluster gauge that when the speedometer breaks you have to change the whole assembly and last I know of it was $494 for the cluster. You cant just fix the speedometer. The aftermarket even provides the cluster due to this issue. I seen it on an episode of trucks. Always something wrong with them. Really do your home work on that particular body style as I have been dealing with them for quite a few years from now.

Ive been looking at the nnbs which is the 07' to 13's.

I have looked at some fords as well. Big back area.

I also looked at a dodge mega cab. Wow the back seat area in that is insane. But crappy mileage from what ive read.

Im going to look at tundras as well somemore but idk

Well I either register this as an antique which gives you very few miles to actually drive on or I get her up to snuff to pass inspection. Which requires a windshield and some work on both front fenders at very least.

Either way. My alternator swap is a success since light came off and its charging fine now. So its running for moment.

I took off top today and took out roll bar. Looks cool that way.

Im going to run to a shop tomorrow and pay for inspection just to see what else I will need to pass.

I could start dumping money into this to get her back into really nice condition but its for wheeling. I don't want to put money into stuff that isn't needed off road like trim and so on. But that would be the stuff that would make it real nice on street.

Looking good! 36's would be sweet! At first glance I thought you got yourself a matching pickup when you said you got a new dd, had to look again before I noticed you took out the roll bar! Looks good without it!
I have the same rear bumper as you.....lol!
