85 4runner
Well today I took possession of an 85' Toyota 4Runner.
This will be my dd (I don't drive crap tons) and wheeler. Eventually leading to being pure wheeler.
I was starting to build my other runner but in long run this is way more cost effective.
His beautiful 35x12.5r15 mtr on black steelies went with him and I nabbed a set of slightly used 33x10.5r15 km2 to go on the stock steelies.
Plans are to give her a super good cleaning and make a list of things to do in prioritizing order.
I will paint her pretty soon into it cause well its what I do. He lined the bottom black so I thinking I touch that up and than do lower half olive drab and do top desert. Wheels black as well as trim. Maybe do some highlighting of key items underneath and in engine bay red to add some pop.
Rear bumper has to go cause I hate it. Other than that I have not even planned anything yet.
Ill be sure to get some pics tmrw.
Stats as of now....
22re
standard
solid axle front and rear
ome leaf spring lift all around
33km2 on stock steels
4.7 xfer case gears
5.29 axle gearing
Detroit truetrac rear
Lincoln front
hi steer
ifs brake calipers and rotors
im sure I forgetting stuff.
Hopefully ill be able to mix and match a bunch of stuff from all my yotas.
Ill try to update pretty often.

im gonna do the battery and intake swap.
Take off the rear bumper.
finish ripping out interior carpet and line it.
Eventually get rid of brush guard thing in front.
I have a 94 runner as well sitting in my yard so im gonna steal anything I can from that.

this is long term thoughts but I have the 22re in it and a spare 22r and the 3.0 in the other runner. Im lazily doing research of what would be best option. I will factor in reliability and cost and power.
I might even go with something else but I have all those already so cost effective.

nice 4runner you have there, those seats you have in there are sweet to, just stick with the spare 22r engine if something happens sinse you already have one and 22r or re engines are awesome , the 3.0 will not just bolt up and need a lot of modifications , just make sure your 22r spare engine is the newer block style so you can transplant the head and everything else to the spare engine.
here is a link to identify your 22r block . https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f120...k-head-243586/

I have not even driven her much yet. I work away and just got back. Only thing i can say complain wise is the vibration. Which previous owner said started when he put in the polyurethane xfer case mount. Other than that she seems fine. Ill post more as i deal with her more.
I hope the ome is good. I wouldnt have gone that route but im cheap.

well she is not firing up. could be something that has happened even though I have only moved her around the drive way. or something related to the cold since its has gotten real cold lately. She just sits there and tries to turn but doesn't.
I changed out terminals today since they were gross and switched around battery to make sure that wasn't it. Still wont turn over.
I made a trip today and picked up some seafoam and rotor and distributor cap, plugs and ordered the ngk wires. fuel cleaner and fuel filter.
I don't think most those have to do with it but im gonna change them all anyways. Ill check the fuel pump tmrw see if that's working.
Ive read about cold start injector??? Ill just start knocking stuff out. Good thing I really don't need to drive this.

and I am painting her here in a bit once shes running.
I have owned a truck I did olive drab and the other runner sand.
Well im big fan of flat colors. So I was going to do bottom black as it is and then middle olive drab and top sand but.....
now I think im gonna do middle this bluish green color I got. kind of an aqua and the top and burnt orange. maybe do wheels burnt orange as well. It is hard to picture but I think it will look good. if I don't like it ill just go bak to my flat colors. well see

Well I replaced battery today and terminals. I changed out dist cap and rotor.
I took a break from trying to figure out why shes not running to fixing rear tailgate. First I poured some hot water on it to unfreeze the seal. Then I rolled window down. One of the release cables for door was missing and one was messed up.
So I took the ones from my 95 and put them in. Exact fit. Well the lock handle was also messed up so I stole that as well from parts runner. It was not a direct fit but I took her inside and sanded for a few minutes and in she went. Put the trim pieces back on and fully functional rear door.
the handle I fixed...
Well the stock windshield washer fluid container was smashed. So I took the parts runners and replaced it. bolted right in and is bigger for more storage capacity. It also has tw motors compared the original one. Well I just cut the wiring to extra pump and replaced the other one with mine. Now I have a functioning windshield washer fluid holder with extra capacity.
