header and cam will both be done as well as a stroker crank so if I want a real weber carb, it would be silly to get the 32/36 when I'm going to need the bigger one sooner or later. This isn't a DD so gas mileage isn't as much of a concern. The "fake" will stay put until I get the cam and header installed most likely, b/c it runs fine.

yes the one in the link is fake weber carbs direct is the chinese copier of the weber. they are turds. Just cause they call themselves weber carbs direct does not mean they are Real weber carbs. Real weber carbs are made in spain. THey have the white choke housing. If you have the one with a black housing...you have been fooled into buying a cheap reproduction. This is a real weber.... But I will check on it

Ok I checked it out fake is not the word when a copyright runs out china makes them USA makes them Spain makes them and Italy
Italian weber are the original and Spain is the newest factory if they have a weber W or the name weber on the casting they came from a weber plant USA says made for weber in USA and the china ones just have a weber sticker
You had me mad and sweating cause 520 plus change is to much for a copy

Dallas huh? Hmmm... keep an eye out for a first gen cab if you can. Looking for one from a rust fre zone. Dont care about surface rust. But I'd roll to Texas to pickup a cab or a roller with a clean cab on it. Mind keeping an eye out for me?

They are not as pricey as the Ida's or even the idf's for that matter they used to be around 400 for a set without manifolds now your lookin at 1200 from weber no manifolds and of course no linkage which I'm so happy that this set up came with
Of I had known about copies I might have gone that way I just looked them up and you can get one for around 250
Even having to smooth out castings and do jet work it might be worth it

I found an 88 2WD frame for $200. It has the long bed like my truck. Would this work to replace the frame on my 82' 4x4 SR5? The guy also wants to sell the bed, which is in good shape.

I just did a quick search on Car-part.com (Junk yard search site) and there are a handful of shortbed frames (I'm assuming you have a shortbed) all around you in GA, SC, TN and NC. Scope out the site. I haven't had much luck since there are very few junk yards around my way, but it could be a good resource for you.

Given the location and extent of your frame damage, I would keep looking for a good frame. If you consider the amount of time, materials and money you would spend on bringing your frame back to a safe standard you'll quickly see that you are better off finding another one. Frames are out there, just have to find one.

The plan I had in my mind was to go up the frame from the rusted out part until I found good metal and either box to reinforce, or cut the bad section out and weld in good metal. Too much hassle?

Took me 2' on both sides to find good metal or weld able at least so now I'm adding 4xinovations full 4runner cage in my 83 with 6 frame tie ins I should be fine
When I should have spent the time effort and money on a good platform
