If that's oil pressure, what's the thing below and to the right of the filter with a wire hanging off of it? I thought that was oil pressure.

In the picture below of my engine (before it blossomed into something much more attractive) you can see the oil pressure sensor below the filter (for those trucks with the oil pressure gauge) and the low/check oil dummy light sensor to the left of the filter.

If your weber has the black choke it is a fake weber.

Just looked at the frame pictures. You are not driving it like that are you? I would look for another frame.
Thats the worst spot to have go bad.

I've been driving it back and forth to work, about 10mi. No offroading and I creep over the train tracks.

You really think I should look for a whole new frame? I wouldn't even know where to start. (I have a $800 quote to have that entire rusted section cut out and rebuilt with new steel)

Oh, and why does it matter if it's a fake weber?

i bought it strait from weber it has serial # and w's all over it
And if that's the case then weber is selling fake carbs or has sold out I've had several before on vw's a bunch of idf's and four ida's two Holley weber 5200's all from weber in fact if my memory serves me I'm pretty sure all of my electric choke carbs have had black plastic electric choke mechanism
But I don't think it's fake
The quality isn't there like in the 80's though

So I'm curious what's up with the fake carbs

lol, I meant to add "low" before that. XD
but yea, they even have the same color wire. at least mine has the same color wires, I managed to get them mixed up when I had to repair my harness. I was a little confused for a minute when my dummy light grew brighter as rpms rose.

yes the one in the link is fake weber carbs direct is the chinese copier of the weber. they are turds.

Just cause they call themselves weber carbs direct does not mean they are Real weber carbs.

Real weber carbs are made in spain. THey have the white choke housing. If you have the one with a black housing...you have been fooled into buying a cheap reproduction.

This is a real weber....

Ok, so I have one of the "turds". It seems to run fine. I haven't rejetted the carb or anything. Is it worth the time and money to get a "real" weber?

If its on and it runs fine...no reason. I think this is were all the base leak issues come from though. People get the fake one and have issues with the mounting plates leaking.

If it works dont fix it.

Dont mean to burst any bubble or be holier than thou or anything. Just want people to know the truth. There is a marked quality difference though.

It's all good, I was planning on getting a 38/38 anyway. Now it'll just be a bit sooner

Whoah. Why the 38? You have a header? headwork? cam?

No advantage on a stocker.

header and cam will both be done as well as a stroker crank so if I want a real weber carb, it would be silly to get the 32/36 when I'm going to need the bigger one sooner or later. This isn't a DD so gas mileage isn't as much of a concern. The "fake" will stay put until I get the cam and header installed most likely, b/c it runs fine.
