Us and my truck 1983.
This was made in my parent's driveway in the summer before we got married 1983.
My goal is to get Dixie up and running before Sept 2, this year.
Since it's our 30 year anniversary, I'm going to drive it back to my mom's house(dad has since passed) and make a picture of us by Dixie in the same spot.

Man, that truck was so cool. Louvers, sunroof, those white wagonspoke rims, fog lights...
I wanna get those blue/black stripes back on the side. I lost those when a guy ran into it and totaled her in 1989 and it was completely repainted and I just left em off.
Not only has the truck changed, but well, we have as well.
The wife and I won't be getting a build up thread. lol.
I know I won't get her anyway close to that by Sept 2, but really, I just wanna get her up and running and stopping and get those tires back like they were and I'll be happy.
But anyway, the rest of the pix will go in my thread as we progress because they pertain to actual build up.
This is a sentimental picture I wanted to put separate showing the fine beauty of what a 1981 Toyota she was...
And what I intend on getting her back to (or as close as possible), 32 years later.

thanks...I'm trying. Be easier if I was a mechanic, but I'm not.
This weekend gonna hopefully get that driver side front hub back together, caliper back on.
I really want those rims and tires like are on there in that pic back on it now. Of course, it's a little shorter with age I bet than as high and tight as it was then.
But still I'd like that.

you should be able to get those rims still, and something very close to the same tires...

I called today to see about some rims like those and actually they're only $75 a piece new. Those are 15's. I guess that's what I'll go back with.
I'd reallly like to get some rear window louvers like that again too. But I bet they don't make those anymore.
I might be surprised though. My NEW OEM 1981 dash I found on Ebay shipped out yesterday.

Na someone had a set, keep craiglisting and ebaying determined enough you will find it, might have a hard time finding a set of "wide climbers" for the tires but nothing a little photoshop can't help
once again hope to see this complete, no matter how long it takes keep on track

Heck yea man. Not a lot though. These old bones only enjoy it on special days. Nice fall days like are coming up will get some mileage on it. Shifting is fun, but after a long day at work..12 hours...it was a lot more fun shifting when I was 21 and just bought it. lol.
It's nice now to get in my diesel and drive home.
Take Dixie out on special days.

Love to see old Yota pics from years ago. Wish I would have kept my first ride ( 79 toyota long bed ) that was passed down from one uncle to another uncle then me. Would pay a lot of money to have it back in any condition.
Good luck with your build.
