Little Elgers 82 build up,thread

Whew! Got the five speed out of the donor, I'm going to have to learn to power wash before taking off parts, everything I touched dropped a cup off dirt and some rat poops on me. I guess I need to replace the input shaft bearing while the tranny is on the floor.

I think this is a L52 because there is the seep hole in the bottom of the nose cone, I read a post by big mike stating something like this, is there a better way to identify it so I can get a new bearing or should I just remove the old one and get the number off it?

Duck master, thanks, I did the body and paint so the labor?? My paint and body supplies, sand paper, and all was less than $1000 but I haven't added it all up to get an exact number, maybe closer to $800. This is my first paint and body job so I'm sure it could be done in a lot less time.

Use the paint booth it will be much cleaner. Every tiny little dent, even the ones you can't feel, will show up after paint. If you use a flat or ssatin paint the dents won't be quite as apparent. Use power tools to start bringing down the bondo, I didn't have any and my fingers still hurt from those sanding blocks. I used base-clear, it was easy to spray without a bunch of runs. That's about all the pointers I have from my only experience.

With thanksgiving and deer season over, I am back to work, got the engine and tranny in and started, what a relief, this is my first overhaul. Most of the a/c system is installed, just lack the hoses.

Are there any new sources for dash top replacements, I tried to fix mine and it looks like crap now, also I need a new drivers side window regulator, but can only find them for non vented type. Dang I thought I was about finished with this truck till I had to start hunting some of the small parts. Will a non vented regulator work, with some mods, or will the positioning be all wrong? It looks they might have a leverage advantage that would be nice if they could bolt up.

Thanks 83, I don't know why I don't think of ebay. All of my new spring bolts came in from rare parts today, so I have some work to do, I am also going to replace the parking lights in the headlight doors with 1157 sockets and run my turn signals from there also. And try to get the dash and stereo all put back in this evening. My carpet came in and my buddy finished his all summer long flooring project so he can recover my seats with leather, I bet his wife was getting pissed, the flooring has been out since late spring. He's doing the seats for me in trade for me putting in his septic for his saddle shop, so we're all happy.
Thanks again to all you guys, you have fixed all my stumbles.

Well, back to shopping, my eBay stereo is about a 1/2" too wide on the back end and won't fit without cutting on the dash frame. I ordered that dash pad 83 told me about, that will sure dress up the interior,

Got the front drive shaft on, but need a unjoint for the rear, did some sound deadening in the doors, I used peel and seal it seems to work really good, finally got finished installing shocks, scored a set of visors at pick a part, they are blue but some duplicolor fabric paint made them look good. My wipers stop in the middle now, is there a way to adjust the auto stop position? What controls the position? My blinker combination switch was bad so I took a new one that a friend had and rewired to my old plug as it was for a later model vehicle, the wires were all the same color, just had different plug. Could the position control be in the switch, or did my helper install the wiper motor wrong?

Since I could not find a drivers side window regulator, I had to redneck it, I had a new condition right side regulator so I converted it to drivers side. First drill out the spot welds.
