Dave’s 83 Toyota Pickup

Hi people, I thought I would post some pictures of new build.

I had just bought this a year and a half ago.

Stripping the bed liner stuff off the bed.

Primed and ready to go.

New doors.

I built both door panels. The will be covered in gray pleather.

The dash was in three pieces. Used fiberglass to put it together and made space for a touchscreen stereo. Lots more to do.

I'm at a stopping point on my cab. I'm going to start on the frame tomorrow. I have a lot of other things done- trans rebuilt, transfer case rebuilt, seat recovered, drive shafts, E-lockers, new parts etc. My project should start moving at a faster pace now. Yours is looking good, stay on it!

I wish I had a spot for a lift, it would make things easier .I used 4 ropes and hung the cab from the floor joist.

Mounting it to the rafters in the garage. Got it from Vevor.com. Great price and it was free shipping.

It’s called metallic burnt copper. I’m thinking about using the color in the picture. It’s a blue to green hypershift.

I have my original bumper from my first toy. So I think I’m going to stay with black. I sold it after I got married, I acquired two kids so it practical to keep it. My wife wouldn’t let me throw them in the back.
I bought this brand new in 1983

Man those were good times with Toyota’s!! I would love to get my hands on one but I’m stuck with my 91, I love it but man a third gen pickup or first gen runner is a dream that’s just not in the cards. Maybe one day

Can’t wait to see when you’re done!!

I just took it out on its first drive in two years. Engine and transmission ran great. The steering needs a little work. Here’s a picture of the grille, I like the chrome and black together. Let me know what you think.
