Yea my buddy has a set of TJ coils, that I can use for the rear, but I also have some 63s. Where I live there is alot of rocks and hills. Mostly rocks tho. I think I'm going to try some 63s first with RUF and see how it flexes. But after I get the cage I'll definitely have the 4 link done for sure

Thanks 85sr5excab I'm trying to get this build done asap. I'm gna try the 63s out and see how I like them. I'm sure I will since I liked the way lift springs performed on my last 83.

Cut my fenders a little today, wanted to keep the flare look up from for now. We'll see how much I need to cut after I put the 35s and the new wheels. Luckily I have no bed to worry about for the rear tires.

I hear ya. I went with 56" fords on mine cuz I already had the rear of my frame cut off and didn't want to change the wheelbase. I'm happy with them so far flex-wise but I'm not driving it either so time will tell. Hoping by summer I can have hi-steer done and ruf pack installed. Have all the parts ready, just having a hard time finding time to work on it.

Nice work so far, can't wait to see it with the new 35's on it! Hi-steer/crossover steering is the way to go, you might have enough clearance with the RUF springs and a non-drop pitman arm, you might have to notch the frame a bit for clearance though. I think the 4 link and TJ coil setup would be cool, Chevy 63's flex well, but are a bit long, might get hung up on rocks, but I can understand trying those first, before going with the 4 link. Whats the process of plastidipping your wheels? I never heard of that, im thinking of blacking out my aluminum wheels, looking for something easy and durable. Keep up the good work!

For the plastidip u can find it at your local hardware store for like $6 dollars a can. It's basically a spray that turns to rubber once it dries and if u don't like it u can peel it right off. Main thing like any other object to paint is to prep it good. Clean really good with alcohol and lint free rag and start spraying away. Your going to want to do light and even coats until u get them how u want them. You can have ur tires mounted on the wheels and if u get over spray on them it will come right off.

The "grill guard" looks like a train cow push bar.

Yea it was a farm truck, it even has one of those cool cow hearding siren things where you push a button and the siren keeps going and going. Kinda like an old school police siren

Ha even better. It's probably pushed a cow or two in its day. These old trucks all have a story.

Yea i would imagine it has. All the dents all over the doors and fenders tell me it has pushed a couple cows. Even the hair i found in the door jambs and behind the fender liner tells me that also. These little trucks are probably the best built trucks ever, considering it's over 30 years old and has all factory options besides the bed. It amazes me at how well it runs. Only if I could fit big tires on the stock wheels I would love to keep them

They are 35x12.5x15 and I bought them from discount tire. My brother is a store manager there and he gave me a damn good deal I think.

I'd say you got a real good deal on the tires! Can't wait to see some pics of them all mounted up and on the truck!

That is a hell of a deal on tires...now we all know whose brother to call when we need tires! LOL I assume that you are re-gearing? That 22R is not going to like trying to turn those monsters with stock gears

Yea he gets me great deals all the time. And they have free tire replacement if they can't fix a flat on the tire.
I'm going to re gear the truck but need to save up for that.
I'm debating if I should leave the 4.10s and get a doubler setup with 4.7s in the rear and drive it like that on the trails. Or if I should re gear to 5.29s now and get the doubler later. It's so hard to decide, and expensive either way. It's all going to happen one way or another but just need to decide on what to do first
