I have stock 4.10s in my truck. When I bought it, the previous owner had 33x12.5 tires on it and it wouldn't pull 5th gear. I would barely maintain a 5th gear speed on flat land, but I still found myself in 4th most of the time on the highway. I put 31x10.5 tires on it and didn't have any problems. I would say that with 35's you'll never be able to use 5th gear and 4th gear may be iffy as well - that's a lot of rubber and those MTRs aren't light.

I think that I would do the 5.29s now and doubler later since that doubler is going to gear you down too much for driving to the trails.

Well the thing about this truck is when I do take it to the trails it will not see any highway use. The town I live in has only one highway, but I just take little streets where ever I go. And besides I like to cruise so everyone can see my builds I have. It's gonna be a good conversation piece. If I do ever need to take it anywhere that would need highway driving it will be trailered. I don't have a title on this bad boy, so it won't be a registered vehicle, which is why I'm going to make it a little buggy. Thanks for the advice on doing the gears first, I think I'm just to anxious on having a doubler for the first time...

Just need to cut that ugly thing off the front and try and find some way of getting the front level with the rear until I get the cage built. What do you guys think?

Wow, your truck looks so much more aggressive and tuff with those tires and wheels! I like the low look with the big meats. The front might level out some once the front cow catcher is removed. I like the pic with your little helper, that's priceless!

Thanks that's my youngest, she's 6 and helps out with all the dirty work since this is going to be hers and her older sister, which is 9. My little one helped change the differential fluid and transfer case fluid out yesterday. If u want them to learn you have to start them out young so they know how hard it is to have a toy to play with. I always told myself that when I had kids I was going to build a project with them. That was something I was never able to do with my father. My oldest helped paint the truck. Here is a pic of her. Name: 20140218_182033_zps63e2f4cc.jpg

Great to see the kids involved. Hopefully when my girls are older they'll get some dirt under the nails.

Thanks, it does kinda look like it. Not quite as big of tires but almost.
So this morning I go to throw the trash and I check on my truck and some a**holes broke my sliding window and broke into my truck, they stole my damn shift know from transmission and transfer case. Left everything else but took those. I swear people don't respect sh** around here. I know it's not that big of a deal since they could have taken more but those things are hard to find around here.

Damn, that sucks! Where the hell do you live? Nobody around here gives a crap about old Toyotas (good for me I suppose) but I hear all the time about old Toyota trucks being stolen out west.

Sorry to hear about that, I hate thieves, hopefully they get what they got coming to them someday! A few years ago when I was living in town before we moved back out in the country I had my 2nd 83' that I owned (not the one I have now) stolen right out of my front yard. It woke me up when they started it because it had a glass pack on it, I jumped up out of bed and immediately called the cops, gave them a description of my truck and the street name and direction they were traveling. 2 hrs later the cops show up to fill out a stolen vehicle report, I was so pi$$ed, they could have totally caught them in the act! Which makes me wonder if I had jumped in the wifes car and followed them with my cell phone (which was my first reaction, but the wife was too freaked out to let me go) and called the cops giving them street by street directions while following the car thieves if they would have responded any differently. I ended up getting a phone call a week later from a "concerned citizen" who found my registration and called me to see if it was my truck sitting in their apartment building parking lot. They wanted to know if there was any reward being offered before they gave me the address (how nice of them) needless to say, I got the truck back minus my toolbox full of tools.

I know I have a spare trans and t-case shifter knob somewhere in a box out in the shed, they're yours if you want them.

Cool, man that would be awesome. Toyota parts are ridiculously hard to find around here. It took me 3 years to find this truck I have now. If u find them people want an arm and a leg for them. Let me know how much it would be for shipping to 76901. I'll take them off ur hand. Today I took the wheels and tires off my truck and brought it to work to lock it up in the back lot so I won't have any other parts growing legs.

Your truck looks a lot better without the grill guard!

What springs for my truck

I'm trying to keep my truck as close as possible to stock height. I'm on a budget so I can't afford the hi - steer just yet. I'm just trying to test out a good suspension with low cog. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Sorry for the temporary hijack, but do you by any chance have the actual shifters available? I'm looking for the short fat ones like my t-case shifter so I can get rid of my long obnoxious shifter seen below:

I don't care if it is the wrong year or a little beat up since I'm going to be refabricating it similar to the way I did my t-case shifter.

PM me if you have it, Thanks! Hijack over (sorry)
