motorcycle safety course

So on Christmas Eve, I went to my boss's house to spend some time with him and his family. At the end of the night, he told me he was going to give me his old motorcycle. It's an older Honda cruiser style bike. His only stipulation was that I have to take the rider's safety course. I had been wanting to do this anyway, but I wanted to know what it was like.

Has anyone else taken it?

yes take it. It's a great course. The name your looking for is MSF. CHeck with your local DMV, or community college for a schedule. Sign up eary, these classes fill up quick. Also even if a clas is full, show up anyway. Usually there is almost always a cancellation.

good luck!

head to your nearest DMV and pick up the motorcycle handbook. It is free and start reading it NOW. Re-read it and when it comes time for the MSF course, you will be familiar with the information

no but i highly recommend you take it. i honed my chops offroad from 10yo until i got a license (i dont think they offered these then anyways) LA has a lot more crazies on the road and its very scary. they really teach you that you are invisible out there. if you learn to drive with that in mind you will survive out there. 3 collision in 25 years, all say they never saw me. loud pipes saves lives, cuz they sure dont see ya.

found this http://www.ebaumsworld.com/videos/ba...daccident.html
dont show it to the wife or you wont get to ride.
note the "concerned" drivers behind the car after impact
