Hey man, if you ever decide to go riding around the bozeman area, let me know. I'm here pretty much the entire year. Me and my buds are going to be biking a lot this year. Oh, and I've got a '02 Gary Fisher Sugar 4+

Sounds good. I was there last weekend for the snow. I hit up Bridger on Friday, Big Sky on Sat, and caught the free ticket to Moonlight on Sunday. Fresh pow everyday. why can't every weekend be like that?

That is nice.
I had looked at the Giant NRS2 a few years back, and also test rode one at a local shop.

I have not kept up on bikes as of late, but when some Boeing bucks start rolling in the near distant future, I intend on getting a very nice one.

One of the requirements will be disks all around, as the trails I use to ride up at Greenwater are wet & dirty, and discs do better in that environment.

Cool deal. Bet it's good riding weather already down there in AL. I've spent 13 hours this week riding in rain, snow, and 40 mph winds. Just gotta do it though if I want to win any races.

Nice bike. Did it come with disc brakes? If not, is it just a straigh bolt on mod?

You have to get a disc wheel set to upgrade. I have seen a few bikes that came "disc ready" that had rim brakes on a disc wheel set but that is very uncommon. More and more bikes are becomeing disc ONLY with no posts on the frame (no place to mount rim brakes).

this bike came stock with some pretty high-end V brakes, but it was ready for discs. the frame, fork, and hubs were all disc compatible so in my case it was a straight bolt-on mod. I got the LBS to throw on the Avid mechanical disc brakes to sweeten up the deal. Most of the other versions of this bike come stock with disc brakes. Most mid-level and up mountain bikes these days seem to come stock with disc brakes. my previous bike had the frame and fork ready for discs, but I needed new hubs/wheelset and new shifters to make the conversion to discs. once the total cost of upgrading started adding up to several hundred dollars I just decided to put that money towards a newer and better bike.

That's TX. it's pretty nice for riding here yes. yea, she loves that stuff too, I train with her most days but I'm not cut-throat competitive like most out there so I just do it for my own relaxation and exercise. hehe.

Haha, funny thing is my bike came with Avid mechanical discs and I spent a ton of money going back to v-brakes. I liked the discs ok but they just added a lot of wieght to the bike with the heavy wheel set. I'm now running some good ol' avid rim brakes with Mavic 517/King wheel set. Before my suspension seat post an a few othere items my bike was 21.5 pounds. Now is't colser to 23.

my wife's specialized was about 23lbs, hehe, now this Blur is like 27. but I think it's tough enough for what she does so the trade-off between weight and durability is acceptable.

are you a weight weenie?!! haha, just giving you a hard time. I've been lusting after disc brakes for acouple years. I love them now that I have them. I'm not sure what my bike weighs, but it is noticeably lighter than my old Giant Warp. I think that one is 34 lbs!

Yea, I am in fact a weight weenie but I kinda have to be when I only wieght 125 pounds in season. The discs were really nice in the snow and mud but I don't like how they almost always made noise and rubed over rough trails. I'm just old school now. Must be geting old.
