1997 4Runner 3.4L for Sale!!
I have been on and off Yotatech over the years, but unfortunately it's time for the Runner to move out of the way for other pressing needs. I put it up on eBay -- she's gotta go this week. Just thought someone on here might be interested in a great deal on a well-built, great running 4Runner. I'm in Riverview, FL. If you are local and would like to take a look at it shoot me a message and we can set up a time.

Here are a couple of pictures -- a complete description is included in the eBay auction. If you have any questions please let me know!!

Thanks! It breaks my heart to sell it, actually. Between a 1-hour commute every day, a 2-year old daughter, and another on the way, it's just not the right time to keep the Runner. I'll regret it later... but then I'll have an excuse to start over
I'm lowering the reserve to make sure she sells - I just don't want to drag out the pain too long!

Awesome rig you got there!
May I ask, what went wrong with the first engine?
Also, as a side note..I don't know what your reserve is but you have a lot of great upgrades there that would enable you to get a lot more money if you were to part it out. I know its a pain, and I know it'd be too sad..but I don't think you'd have a problem getting 8-9k for just a stock truck like that...then probably another grand or two at least from the upgrades. Just a thought...

Thanks - I really do hate to see it go...but maybe I'll pick up an FJ down the road to take apart.
The original engine -- I bought this truck used and the original owners did a good job of taking care of the body, but not the engine. I knew it had a head gasket problem when I bought it but I quickly discovered it also had a pretty nasty oil leak out of the rear main seal. An opportunity arose to buy the current engine from one of the master techs at a dealer in Richmond, VA. He had the engine as a spare (new head gaskets on both sides, new seals, new valve cover gaskets, heads checked for warpage, etc). I picked it up from him at a smokin' price because he sold his 4Runner and didn't need it. So, to avoid tearing into the old engine with it still in the truck, I took a weekend and banged out the swap. The old engine is on a stand in my garage... the long-term plan was to tear it down and get it ready for a supercharger but that's kinda out now. It still runs fine, might need to have the heads resurfaced if the old owner overheated it (I'm thinking that must be what happened) and it will be good to go. Hey, I might just put it up here on the boards soon.
The aftermarket stuff -- you are probably right on the money about getting more if I part it out. I don't have the stock parts anymore and I would really like to see someone get it who can USE it like it is. She's a beast, and there are still lots of things that can be done. I'd like to see someone buy it and just keep on building rather than tear it down for a couple hundred bucks extra.
If anyone has any other questions, please fire 'em over. 3 days to go!

Bumpin' it up -- less than 24 hours to go and the reserve has been met.
I just changed the oil (full synthetic, as usual) and it's ready to meet its new owners.
Don't miss out on a great deal!

Did it sell? If not how much do you want for it? I see that you bought some stuff in Richmond and the pics look like they were taken near OBX NC. Do you come this way often?

I used to live near Quantico, VA -- lots of good trails over in the Shenandoah. The pictures were actually taken near Tampa, FL where we now live. With an hour to commute to work and no time to make my way up to Ocala, the 4Runner just wasn't right for now.
If the buyer backs out for some reason I'll let you know!
