Trxus MTs 33" vs 34"
ok so this summer i will be buying new tires but i have a question about the trxus m/t...i the positives of having 35's but don't want to go that big, and 33's are what im looking for , but the trxus comes in 34" would i feel the difference from the 33" and how much slower would the 34" be without regearing compared to the 33's. also does anyone know where i can get exact sizes on these tires....thanks guys

the reason i am shying away from the 34's is because they are $40 more for each tire, and i don't think, for that much money i would see a big difference offroad or ground clearance. the 34's are an extra $160, my question is are they going to be worth the extra money aving offroad?

if you cant clear them really well id say no
ground clearance via tires is sorta BS anyway. what you care about is contact patch and flexibility.
if you can stuff them well and your rub doesnt inhibit flex, then you should be ok with a 34... but for the price id go with the 33s.

The ONLY way to increase TRUE ground clearance (under the diff, which is the lowest spot) is bigger diameter tires. (Well, OK - you could switch to Portal axles, but that's not practical for most people) You should ALWAYS run the tallest tires possible, which usually means a narrower tire. The difference in traction on MOST surfaces (sand and some mud being the exception) is negligible compared to the ground clearance benefits. In addition, a LONGER contact patch (as a result of a taller tire) generally does more for you than a wider contact patch.
Here's a paper that explains it more scientifically:

dude the difference in ground clearance BETWEEN A 33 AND 34 is pretty negligible, thats all i meant.
its especially unhelpful if he cant flex them.
