Which Tires.....?

Hi I got Wildcats on my truck right now and they are beyond loud...ridiculously loud. I was wondering if anyone out there drives a 85-88 yota pickup and has mudding tires that are quiet on the road but perform well off-road. Thanks for any suggestions.

yeah, I have these cool mud tires, they're really quiet...maybe you've heard of em, thay're called "super swampers" I think?...

haha, just kiddin man, they sound like a squad of bombers flying overhead when yer on the freeway...but to answer your question, most any mud tire is gunna be loud, thats just the way it works, but I've heard the firestone destination M/T's arent that bad...

Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs aren't bad offroad and pretty reasonable onroad manners and noise.

I simply have two sets of tires, run the AT's year round and put the super swampers on before leaving to go offroad. It works great as I don't have to deal with a louder set of tires all the time, and my swapers have hardly worn.

Pro Comp Xterrain. Not as load as other mud tires but there is a little bit of noise compared to an all terrain tire.

Super Swamper RADIAL TSL at 40 psi on the road. Mine have a consistant hum but not loud. You can hear when you hit a bump and the side lugs hit the road, get a little louder for a split second. Everyone who rides in my truck says "I thought these tires would be really loud but you can bearly hear them." They don't vibrate at low speed like my bfg mt's did either.

The poster is specifically asking about "mudding tires" and MT/R's aren't..
The "MT" does not stand for "Mud Tire".

I have BFG mug terrains. Lots of people use them, they are perfect for all around use. Good on the highway at high speeds and awesome off road or in the snow. They seem to be wearing very well and they dont have alot of road noise. Obviously they have some but as far as knobby tires go I hardly notice the noise. I would defenitely recommend them. Plus they look awesome. Ill probbaly go out and buy another pair when I need new tires, just up the size to 33

I've had BFG Muds in the past and they are very nice on the road. Right now I'm running treadwright OTR's, pretty darn aggressive tread that could probably do well in the mud, and they are really quiet on the street.

Oh and did I mention that they are 65$ each?

You're really going to be hard pressed to find an aggressive mud tire that doesn't hum on the road.

That said, BFG Mud Terrains are relatively quiet.

My TreadWright D/Muds are not screaming loud either, but they have a noticeable howl that you can still hear with the windows up.
