Tire Suggestions please

I have a 97 4runner with a 3.4 in it. I just added a 2.5 coil spacer lift and 1.5 wheel spacers. I have the factory 16x7's which I would like to keep for the time being. So my question is what is the best size tire to run, I was thinking of 33" equivalent (305/70/16) but I'm not sure about width and the whole rubbing issue.
Any Idea's??????

With a 7 inch wheel, I wouldn't go any more than a 285/75/16. Any wider of a tire than that and you'd be better off going with some wider wheels. To do a 305 or a 315 i'd recommend at LEAST an 8" wide wheel, a 10" wheel would be preferred.

I know ideally a wider rim is better, but I know a couple people that have been running 12.50's or metric equivalent on factory 7 inch wheels and have never had a problem. I know its probaly pushing it but I'm building the truck in stages ($$$) and would like tires now and can always do wheels later.

You can pick up a set of 6 lug wheels on craigslist for like 100 bucks. I don't know if you could fit a 15" wheel, but if you could that would be ideal for cheap, vastly available tires. I picked up a set of 15x10" wheels for 50 bucks with a set of old 35's on them. I gave the 35's to a buddy cause I don't need 'em, but you see where I'm goin with this...

Spend a little extra, be done with it, and do it right. Personally, I'd never run a tire that is almost twice as wide as the wheel.

pb4ugotobed is correct. also i think you would have some rubbing issues with the 305. i ran them on my tacome with a 3" lift - rubbed the frame.... had 16x8 and put a 1" wheel spacer - rubbed the wheel well.... put a body lift on - problem solved

285/75R16's. They fit and work well on factory wheels but even better with 16x8 aftermarket wheels if you ever decide to change.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the input guys! I see the 285/75/16 equals about 33x11.6 so that should be perfect. I cant fit 15's because of calipers so thats why I was having a hard time trying to figure out best metric size.
