Tire Size... PLEASE HELP!!! 265/75/16

So I know this topic has been beaten to death but I still don't have a clear answer. I just got a 2003 4x4 trd tacoma. I need some new tread and I'm going with BFG AT's. Stock size on the truck is 265/70/16 Rugged trails. The BFG At's in 265/75/16 are $50 cheaper per tire compared to the 265/70/16!!! Will the 265/75/16's fit without rubbing????? I am not planning on lifting anytime soon due to lack of cash. These tires will be mounted on a 16 x 8 steel wheel with 4.5 backspacing. I am fine with the stock size tire (plus i like my mpg and speedo now) but if i can save $200 i will do it. Thanks for any input.

My second option would be to get the wheelers off road toyota steel wheels in a 15x 8 and put the 31/10.5/15's on. Much cheaper setup. Anyone have this setup?????

I HIGHLY doubt that a tire 1" taller than stock is going to rub. You could probably run 33s(265/80/R16) or taller without issues.

Yeah but this is on a stock truck with NO lift. Some people say the 75's rub and some don't. The stock rugged trails only have about a 1' clearance on the mud flaps and fenders. Don't care about the mud flaps but don't want to have to trim the fender flares.

Then with a 1" taller tire you would still have a ½" of clearance. Unless you really meant 1' of clearance, then you'd still have 11½". Either way you should be fine right?

Here ya go, hope this helps

I believe you can run up to a 285.75r16 without major cutting. Info from the sight is as follows.
Very handy tool btw... putting it on my phone and home computer as shortcuts

I run 245/75r16 which are as follows

Now, if I pull some pricing for the tires it is as follows

265/70r16
Bfgoodrich AT KO - $212 plus shipping (d load rating) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac - N/a in this size
265/75r16
Bfgoodrich AT KO - $197 plus shipping (e load rating ) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac - $198 plus shipping (c load rating) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
245/75r16
Bfgoodrich AT KO - $202 plus shipping (e load rating) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac - $179 plus shipping (c load rating) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

So as you can see the 6 ply (more then enough for us SUV/Light truck types) in the goodyear duratrac (which is a wicked little option btw) is 20 bucks cheaper then the rest of the tires and looks Gnarlier.

I followed everyone's advice on this forum and it was wrong. They said 265/75-16 on stock wheels wouldn't rub. It did and I had to buy a 1" suspension lift.

That's what I'm afraid of. I think I'm sticking with stock size.

Go with the 245/75r16. More pressure per square inch yet less restriction traveling down the road. Technically the ESACT same size (slightly slightly smaller) and 20mm narrower. Cant go wrong and its cheaper then the 265/70r16

265/75r16

I know this is a little late but I run 265/75r16's on my stock 1998 Tacoma. I got a set of 16 inch stock 4runner wheels and put a set of BFG AT's on. I have a slight tire rub on the frame at full turn so I just try to keep from turning the wheel to full lock. It filled up the wheel well nice.
