Lug Nuts....Spline vs acorn

Looking to buy a set of new lugs all around with my new wheels. 75% of all lug nuts i see online are spline. Should i go with spline or just regular acorns? Why so many splines out??

I think you mean "hex" when you're talking about acorn lugs? If so, it's really up to you and whatever you like the look of more.

The splined lugs are to somewhat deter thieves. Any jackwagon has a socket to fit over a hex head lug nut and can quickly steal your wheels.
You've gotta have the right key for splined lug nuts, making them slightly harder to remove/ steal.

what scuba said, America's tire includes these with every set of tire you buy, but they put it on every set they buy and they're all the same key. I have about 4-5 of these things now... Cant imagine they deter thieves much, if the thief knows what he is doing.

Lol well I know they dont make acorn splines. Yeah not really concerned about security. I'd go with a custom keyed set if I were. Was just wondering pros con's between hex and splines as far as functionality. ( taking on and off) Thanks for the responses by the way!

functionality? the standard hex lug nut will be much more functional as you don't need a special socket to take it off. If you loose your wrench, chances are the next person to stop and help you will have one that will fit.
