Tire size

I have a 1988 4runner, currently I'm running 32"x12"x15" on my stock rims. With the 22re it really can't stay in 5th gear on the interstate long, I'm usually shifting to 4th on hills. I love this tire size for everything else. I do not want to re-gear the diffs(stock gears) . Should I live with this or go down to 31's?

Just get some gears! if you ever want to go bigger tires youll want them anyway plus it will give you better millage running gears you should be with bigger tires. Best option IMO dont go smaller tires!

Ok fills, I trust your opinon I have read alot of your stuff. Now, can you tell me where is the best source for new gears. I'm on a do-it-your-self/scavenger budget. I appreciate all the advice I can get.And what ratio should I go for 4:11, 3:56??

4.88 you may get some other advice but thats what I think would be good for you. Yukon gears is what I would get form online or local 4x4 shops. If you can do the install corectly yourself it would be nice that of take your 3rd to a shop and see if they will install it all for you. I purchased a third form West coast differential with air locker and compressor for $1200 hell of a deal and hasnt given me any issues yet!

Alright 4:88. More than I thought. I was thinking of doing the welded rear after reading another one of your posts. Anything stock I could pull this out of(Supra or something??) If I went your way air is not a problem, almost have on-board setup going.
