if you actually plan on mudding, why would you not get mud terrains?

The new Xtreme MT got great reviews in a recent magazine comparison test. Great reviews as a ROCK tire, not a MUD tire though.

I wish they made them in 33x10.50

If it was me and I wanted a good compromise between the two, I would get the BFG All Terrain. It has a more open tread design that the Pro Comp AT for better mud traction overall, while being more tame than the Pro Comp MT.

And since the Pro Comps have become as popular as they are, the price of the BFGs are pretty close to the Pro Comps.

I've had both the BFG Mud Terrain and the BFG All Terrain, and overall I prefer the BFG All Terrain overall.

I will second the BFG AT's. I've had BFG AT's, MT's and the Pro Comp MT's.
The MT's of either brand are great tires but I felt the BFG's were better.
I am on my second set of BFG AT's and I love these tires. Though they are not a mud tire but I have been surprised more than a few times by there performance in the muck!

I have a set of BFG AT's on my taco and all they are good for is to sling rocks at a hi rate of speed and get flipped off! while driving down the highway! Plus they gum up so bad in mud and God forbid if you get in a rut,,, but i like them on sand and ice/snow they are great!

I like my x-terrains so far. We dont have mud down here, but they do well in the sand and on the rocks.

I will never get AT's on a rig that gets wheeled again.

They do tend to gather pebbles. The grooves seem to be just the right size. But that's a minor issue to me.

If they gum up that bad in mud, it must be some very sticky mud. But then again, any other A/T would likely do as bad or worse, since most A/Ts have grooves that are smaller.

I've had the Xterrains. They are NOT a good mud tire, but are better than an AT in mud. The Xterrains are great for rocks and drier conditions, I will also say they wear extremely well on pavement (even with a spool )

The Xterrains seem to be meant for drier surfaces, similiar to the GY MTR tire.
