Opinions on MT tires wanted

Alright, I'm looking at getting some new shoes on my 97 Runner, and wanted some opinions on MT tires.

Mostly going to be a pavement pounder, but will have some dirty days, and snowy adventures.

What do you got, how do they perform?

X2 ^^^

I'm content with my AT's for now... But sometime next year, hoping to pick up a set of KM'II's(for trips) from a buddy who totaled his truck. He LOVED em, but rolled bad within 10K miles, ....eeeek! ..... He shopped around and actually drove many, and has had many others.... said they were by far the best ''FEEL'' he'd driven in, yet.

Best wishes, Krakr.... happy hunting!

Mark

theres many people that swear by the km2's also id say its worth looking at bf ko's if its a pavement pounder for a A/T tires people say they do good on the trails.

that a look at this link...

The KM's are no longer offered, and since they were so popular I imagine it would be near impossible to find a really good used set. If your gonna go mostly street, I would do what the previous poster said and look into a set of KO all terrains. My old set never let me down and wreaked havoc in the snow. My friends with their M/T's couldnt even do as good. But the KM II's have the really aggressive look that I love. Either way, I think you would be happy

Firestone Destination MT, a heavy tire with exceptionally strong sidewalls. Have had them in deep/light snow, ice, mud, rock.... really good wet road traction. I live in the Pacific North West it rains most of the year. Had two sets of tires BFG A/T for road use and these MT's for trail use. The wet traction of the MTs was so much better I stopped swapping them out and sold the ATs.

Stockwell is right, as far as mine doing better at times in the ice, etc., than SOME of my buddies with mudders..... I also think people tend to discount the 'noise' factor, too quickly. I know, the KMII's are not INSANE loud, like some...but they ARE louder. For people that are traveling in a touring style.... like me(still off roading quite a bit, but LONG ways to get there type stuff).... it can be a lil taxing. For the weekend trail creeping wheeling, who have the time to go every weekend, etc., ....it's worth a lil noise. I'm really surprised at how long the new KMII's are lasting people... IMPRESSED! I get it that some haven't got what they wanted out the KO AT, but it's just not been true for me. We've been all through the Sequoias and Sierras, through some pretty aggressive stuff, and they AT's always came through pretty well.... and the 300+ miles to get there?... NICE AND QUIET, and for sure, these AT's I just swapped out, lasting 100K and still having tread? YEAH, .....that's pretty decent longevity, right?

I will say, having a lunchbox locker on my white 86 with the same tires? HUGE difference on 'how much I could get through, regardless of tires'... Because I had both the AT's and before that, the Long Trail(trial?) BFG's, and the latter wasn't much less capable, with the lockers in the rear.

I ordered mine on line for hundreds less than the Firestone dealer on post. With road hazard to boot.

Yes please elaborate..... I'm about to pick up some destination m/t's 315/75/16's.... where online? The cheapest I can find em for is $208.99 from the firestone website. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.
