Nitto Terra Grapler VS. Goodyear wrangler silent armor?
Need to buy tires tommorow and i was going to get the Nittos but all that is available is BFG's or the new Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor, the guy at Discount Tire told me to get the goodyears. Its a 98 4runnner 4x4 5speed no lift and i'm going to run 265/75/16.
Any opinions would be great.

What's the out the door price of the tires and what kind of driving will you be doing?
I really like the Nittos and they perform well on the street and handle the wet/snow nicely also and they have a nice look and handle the occasional trail ride that I do.
If you never really go off road the Nittos might be much since they are a D load range tire they will ride a bit stiffer than an H/T tire but doesn't bother me and mine is a daily driver.

I have the A/T Silent Armor's in a 275/70/17. They ride nice - are awesome in the snow and rain - are quiet and east to balance. They are exactly what I was looking for after my last set of tires - Wrangler MTR'S. One thing to consider though - they are heavy tires. The kevlar band in them adds alot of weight and therefore alot of rotational mass. I noticed the difference in weight and performance of my runner between my mTR's immediatley. Besides that though, I am very happy with them and they have been proving to have very good tread life.

How much did they quote you on the Nittos since I've seen them for under $130 a tire around here and I got mine for about $600 with everything included. Some dealers get the E and D load range mixed up and the E range is almost $30 more a tire so make sure the Nittos are D load range.
The Nittos are available at $135 a tire while the GY Silent Armors are at $170 a tire and IMO the GYs defiently don't have the agressive look of the Nittos. These are prices at our local Discount Tire. Check around for a better price on the Nittos since there's no way they cost close to the Goodyears.

I have been driving the BFG A/Ts for about 60k miles, Great tire. I was thinking of the Wranglers myself for the next set of stick with the BFGs. I would like to know what people think of the new Wrangler. http://www.goodyearwrangler.com/good...html/index.jsp Does anyone have the Wranglers?

Good choice;Nittos are gaining in popularity quite rapidly as of late and I'm sure the very competitive price is helping alot plus they are a solid on/off road tire and after a few sets of BFGs I've ridden on performing subpar I'll never go back.

Bamachem had 'em on his Runner and he recommended them for on road performance and intermediate off roading and while the sidewall might be a ply less than BFGs I've never heard or had any issues with mine and I air down to 20 psi with mine off road.
My truck is my daily driver but I do off road when I can and I needed something that was still a solid off road tire but still had to handle the paved roads especially when wet or snow covered and the Nittos handle it all nicely which the BFGs never impressed me.

For those of you that have bought tires online, about how much have you been paying to get them mounted and balanced on your truck? Do places typically charge more for this service when tires are not purchased through them?
