Anyone have experience with the tires?? They are on my prerunner now but were somewhat worn when I bought them, they are quiet on the road but as far as anything else I have no experience with them other than the last 2 weeks driving, the run about $150 a piece, and other tires out there that you guys have used that are good for daily driving but have good traction when needed?

I have em and I really like em but if you have any bad weather at all (besides rain) they stink. The best part about them is the treadlife on the tires is very long but don't expect good traction on anything but dry pavement and moderate rain (they can hydroplane in a deep puddle).

Which LTX?

My dad has LTX M/S, his first set lasted 90,000 miles, and he just put on his 2nd set 6,000 miles ago. He is sold on them. The tread is a little too mild for me.

I bought LTX A/T, I have been happy with them. They are not as aggressive as the BFG's and Dueler's. They get me around with off-roading and deep snow just fine. They are really smooth and quiet. I have put 30,000 miles on mine and they still look new. They should last me at least another 30,000 miles.

 

I have the LTX MS's and they stink in the snow up here.

 

I have the M/Ss and for anything in road ( even ice) they are great. but anything offroad they suck so bad..I went around out lake with the mud..there was no controle of my rig after just a few seconds...with zero traction. This was to the point of being dangerous. My next tires will be the BFG at/ko or MT..or revos..these stink.. (Unfortunately I have only 3000 miles on these total..the toyota dealer put these on new the day I bought the truck.)

 

Come to Quebec and I can change your opinion quick on the ice part.

 

I have the M/S's. Ive noticed dry they are great, but wet they spin from every light. So what would be the tire for the truck for mostly city use? I mainly want good wet and dry traction and low noise, offraod really doesnt apply. The size is 265/70/16 in case some only come in certain sizez.

 

I have the LTX M/S's on my 1994 4Runner. They have been on for about 8000 mi. I drive mostly on gravel or pavement. They are great on dry / wet pavement, light snow, and light mud. The only place they don't do very well is in deep snow and deep, sticky mud. If you are going to be doing much off-road driving a more aggressive tire would be a better choice.

 

I have a set of M/S and they suck ass in deep snow.
I am about to replace them with BFG Mud-Terrains this summer.

 

I am going to do the same to mine but with Bridgestone Revos.
I will just keep the LTX's for the 6 months of the year we don't have snow or ice.
Don't get me wrong....I love the LTX's......just no ood for bad weather.

In a different thread, just yesterday, I extolled my mileage estimates (and how unimpressed i am with snow/ice performance).

One more good thing I'll say bout the LTX At (in my case) is the lack of weights required to balance the tire. I have two wheels without any weight and 2 with tiny (1cm) weights. They roll like it too.

 

LTX M/S excellent tire and long thread life. I will replace my stock Dunflop AT20's with these LTX's soon.

 

well, when I finally lift my rig..I will get differient tires...but that is still so far away ...no $$$

 

i have them as my "road trip tires" for my 4runner. i have about 50k on them and they're like new. my dad has a pair on his 4runner and he has something like 80k and only slight wear showing. they wear great, they're quiet on the road, and i get pretty descent gas milage with them (22mpg with my 22re and 26mpg with my dad's 3vze). they're not very good in show, but that's why i have a set of winter duelers. my dad runs his in the winter and says they're great, but i think that's because he's much more of a conservative driver than i am (and he gets a less icy type of snow in pennsylvania as compared to my snow in colorado). i've never had them off road on anything more technical than a fire road, and i wouldn't want to do that anyway, they don' t look like they could put up with any real off road abuse. if they'd ever wear out, i'll be replacing them with a set of goodyear mt/r's.

 

Mine too. I guess that's one benefit for paying so much $ for them.
