Tires on Rims???

I need new tires. I have enough lift for 33's but I only have stock 15 inch wheels so what is the widest I can go and keep them on the stock wheels.

315s help

I have about 4 inches of lift on a 98 sr5 4runner and found a really good deal on 315/75/16 bfg ats which will fit but I currently have 15 inch rims and need to buy some 16x8 or 9. So what should the backspacing be to fit the tires with the least amount of rubbing possible? Would 4" work or even 4.5"?
And what rims do yall recommend?

I'd go with 16x8 and no more that 4" backspacing. Rims are up to you, do you want steel or aluminum? Do you care about looks?

You have an SR5 with 15's? I thought all SR5s were V-6 and 16" wheels.

Are you running 12.50's right now?

If so, then just measure your current backspacing, and get the same, or around the same.

Wider tires on the 4runners cause rubbing problems on the upper A-arms.

17 inch Rims

I have the opportunity to get some 285/70/17 bfg km2s for a pretty good deal and so i need new 17 inch rims, i would like to get some sort of toyota rims because i like the stockish rim look domething like FJ Cruiser rims but would be willing to buy other rims if necessary. Any ideas on what rims i should be looking for? And also would 4.5 backspacing still work? Thanks in advance for your help yall

4.5 inch backspacing should work, as I have that backspacing on my rims. Mine are 16" though, but I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't matter.

ha so now that i read this thread I'm questioning my decision. I have a 2000 4runner 4x4 stock... I am planning on doing a 3 in lift when i get back from deployment, I paid for some Black Rock Series 929 16x7's with 4" backspacing... they are way backordered so I was thinking hm... can i fit 15x8 with 4" backspacing and as far as I can tell by what some of you guys said on this i can... but heres the question is... do i buy those 15x8's and then wait to buy the tires when i do the lift.... or should i just say screw it, not buy the wheels or the tires until i get back from deployment and go all at once? someone sway me one way or another!

i think the newer rims are 4.25 in backspacing... check out this company called black rock... they are cool, but yea dude the new fj cruiser rims are legit... and they are always on sale... check craigslist or ebay or even the threads on here for people selling used wheels
