Generic camping stove problems

Last couple times I've been using my propane camping stove (looks the same as a Coleman except a stainless steel walmart version) it acts like it is out of fuel. It starts up fine but 10 minutes later the burners go out. I take the canaster off and it seems as if some pressure is built up between the tank and the regulator, the tank is new. I tried shaking up the tank and putting it back on and the burner will fire back up for about 30 seconds and go out agian. There is some frost on the outside of the regulator. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas on a fix?
Thanks for the help!

have you tried another tank? I guess you are using the small round 16 or 20 oz. tanks, I have had tanks that feel full, but only run a short time. They generally build up the frost when they are getting close to empty.

You know the first time it happened I thought the tank was almost empty and it came with that plastic thing to release any extra pressure to be able to recycle the tank. It hissed for almost hour hours!

sounds like moisture in the line. the regulator will become cold with the drop in pressure, and any moisture in the line would begin to freeze, restricting flow. once you stop the flow, the moisture thaws back out, allowing fuel to flow again.

i think. i have an msr whisperlite international, and i love it

i know. but i do love the whisperlites. i got mine on sale a looong time ago.

my advice is to upgrade to a coleman roadtrip. my mom has one of the first ones, and it's never had any issues in the 7-ish years she's had it. it's been to the beach, mt. rushmore, yellerstone, texarkansas, and all points in between

irab88, I wonder how much more of our gear is the same..

I got the Road trip Grill LXE for a wedding present, I grill at home with it and at the beach..

to the Original poster, try blowing out the tubes on the grill, or you can try sucking it out.

maybe a spider made the tube his home..

Or just exchange it at Wallyworld

Try checking the burners they may be clogged or if its cross threaded it'll release propane that could cause frost or the knob to adjust from low to high could be broken brsides that you can get a new one fairly cheap
