I agree with misterzee. Get a couple of the hot hands heat packs. I have a couple of re-usable ones that are meant for sleeping bags. You just boil them in water to reactivate them and bend the coin thing inside the pack that looks like a coin to get heat again. Good for a lot of uses. I have used them 50 times allready and they still work OK. They are not as good as the hot hands and I don't know where to find them any more. I would stay away from gas heaters. If you get realy cold it helps to share your bag with a friend

I asked my friend to share but he punched me in the eye. Ha ha j/k. I think i stayed warm due to the multi layers on top and bottom. I forgot a cap and that is one thing i would reccomend.

I'm sure the champagne didn't have anything to do with staying warm n cozy either.......

I have never used one and it might not do any good at all but it might be worth a shot.
A friend picked one of these up for me. I tried it out last winter. I wouldn't say it keeps the truck warm but it did keep everything from feeling crispy cold. It also killed my battery. That isn't good for a non deep cycle or marine battery. Also, they don't tell you in the internet ad, but this heater says "do not operate for more than 20 minutes at a time". Definitely not a substitute for a warm bag and proper clothing.

On another note, I saw a link on another site for a combustion heater that runs on gasoline. It was pretty small, you install it on your truck somewhere (underneath even) and plumb it into your fuel tank, then route the hot air hose into the cabin. That would be ultra-trick for someone that cold weather camps frequently.

Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Espcially with the vibrations from off-roading.

Dunno, sounds pretty cool. Check out this guy's install thread: http://jeffgully.com/index.php?blog=...&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

Here is the unit: http://www.webasto.us/am/en/am_rv_heaters_826.html

yeah and those things seem like they last forever. The setup I did was plenty warm. I just need to remember to wear a hood next time.
