new to this. have question about 4.3 swap

i just rebuilt a 1996 4.3l out of a blazer, and am going to be putting it in my '82 toyota. i hate wiring, and can't figure out how to hook up the alternator. it's got P,L,I,S, on the connector, and aren't quite sure how to splice that onto the toyota harness. i know i only need two of the wires, and have gotten different answers. any help would be appreciated!

S gets connected to the + post on the alternator

L gets connected to 12v, and is supposed to have a 3-4 watt bulb inline

L should only be hot with the key on. I run a little bulb inline with L right at the alternator (I think the bulb #110 is used, I would have to check). This can also be accomplished at the charge bulb on your dash. A resistor would probably work too. Or switch to a 1 wire.
